That has some other side-effects too. Taxes are sometimes different for on-premise sales. On-premise sales of one thing can cannibalize other on-premise sales, especially in a jam-packed tasting room where people might not stick around due to crowds.

I see no reason not to believe this is an economic decision on their part. Having small amounts on-premise and then doing a lottery for the rest probably gives them the best of both worlds.

Does anyone happen to know the bottling date for the current batch of Anna on sale at HF? Thanks in advance.

I did not get your reference earlier, as I am banned on TalkBeer. They have a strict, "No criticizing Hill Farmstead" policy, and apparently, I offended Shaun's honor some years ago through some benign comment I made on the HF forum.

"Shaun Hill is easily the best brewer in the world. There's honestly no one else remotely in his class, in my estimation. These beers are so much better than anything else I've had, in their styles, and this is true across so many different types of beer. It's just unbelievable the degree to which I enjoy these beers more than other representations of the same style. I don't say this lightly either. It would be convenient if I didn't need to drive a thousand miles for my favorite beers, but that's just the reality of the situation."

This quote is actually pretty funny. It would be great if Hill Farmstead could release a limited edition t-shirt with their standard logo and a RateBeer banner for "Best Brewery in the World" on the front and the copypasta quote on the back.

I am now going to impose a two-week ban on myself for mentioning TalkBeer and RateBeer on BeerAdvocate.

    • Only the lottery winners will be notified via email. Winners will be notified no later than April 8.
    I wouldn't expect a 10:01 email

I was just popping in to check their stout-fest lineup and saw the Poetica 2, Chance for Mass . people to give it a try if interested and unable to get to VT. Genealogy is on that pouring for that stout-fest Saturday, although I doubt it lasts very long.

I would honestly get in the Poetica line first. Really lucky to be able to have them so close I'd be there all the time, but especially would love to have access to that at my local bar. Jealous!

Armsby has a pretty good rotation going: Poetica, Rhetorica, Poetica 2
