Along these lines, I will be in town this weekend and was planning on hitting TC on Friday for the anniversary release and then a couple of the other obvious spots later that day and on Saturday.

Having never been to Richmond or to a city of a comparable size when a NASCAR race is happening - does the city get noticeably more crowded? And is the significant overlap with breweries and bars with good lists?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Bottle / can release details (that we know so far) for the 5th anniversary this weekend. You can see full descriptions of each beer on in their FB Event

    FRIDAY
    1. Past is Prologue Mixed Culture Golden Ale with White Peaches 5% ABV
    2. Jubilee Jubilaums Bier 5.6% ABV
    3. Just to Get a Rep DIPA - Safety Team Collab
    4. Space Falcon IPA
    5. DDH Anniversary Falcon Smash IPA (Featuring Mosaic and Falconers Flight)
    6. Fault Line Export Helles Lager

    SATURDAY
V - 5th Year Anniversary Bourbon Barrel Aged Blend Bottle
our first ever 100% bourbon barrel aged beer sets out on its own. After much thought about process and recipe design, packaging, overall barrel aged beer development, and the constant need to refine all that we do, we arrive at V. A blend of an undisclosed amount of bourbon barrel aged imperial stout purposely brewed to not only withstand the barrel aging process, but to thrive within the whiskey soaked oak, and a smaller portion of our beloved bourbon barrel aged barleywine to both add caramel like toffee vanilla brighter malt tones to the finished blend.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Aged in oak barrels for a spell north of a year, and then moved to stainless upon blending to let the blend mature and round out, we then sent it to 500ml bottles for several weeks to rest until now.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Designed for sipping and thinking about everything and hopefully nothing, we notice impressions of dark chocolate, toasted vanilla, marshmallows destined for smores but you ate them before they touched graham cracker, bourbon drenched chocolate covered cherries with layers of sweet burnt sugar and molasses on a lingering velvety finish. 12% ABV
500ml bottles to go – limit 4 bottles per person

@ROXONE There may be some overlap but I doubt there will be much. Triple Crossing is less than 10 miles from the track but since it's downtown traffic that's probably a 25-30 min drive. If you did not see there was a Craft Beer Fest at the raceway on Saturday that would be something to check out too. over 25 breweries pouring and some that don't even distro in the area so it would be nice to check those out. Not sure what the cost is day of but it's only $30 in advance and you get unlimited samples.

I love TC, and I'm sure some will disagree, but as a whole this anniversary lineup is a little underwhelming imo.
I'd love to try the stout though.

I both agree and disagree. For the most part the anniversary lineup is just an slightly amped up version of a normal Friday release with them releasing 7 beers in package instead of just the normal 2-4. Can't slight them for what they are releasing as they are doing what the want to do and not catering to most of us (like me) who would love for them just blow us away with multiple new hazy juice bombs as well as BA stouts. Those wanting that instead just need to wait a couple weeks when Veil goes overboard with all of their anniv week releases. I think it's in part our fault that we expect breweries to go next level on their anniversaries and other special events. Outside of the BA Stout and Safety Team collab I'm not much excited for the rest but those who are into lagers and the wild ale will probably enjoy seeing them expand the release to include these, especially the lagers.

Yeah, you are right I guess there will be plenty of nonsense beers to discuss in a few weeks at the Veil. haha. I will be quiet and let the Falcon Smash truthers enjoy their day (two versions).

I believe they had initially said 9 beers, so in theory two more left to announce?

How long to cans usually last at either brewery? I see they come out Friday and are split between both locations on Saturday. Do they usually last at either location into the week or are they usually sold out by the end of the weekend?

8th beer announced for tomorrow's release....One more left to announce I think.

    DDH Last Broadcast DIPA⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Last Broadcast returns as our first ever DDH DIPA. As with the previous version, this beer was hopped with Mosaic, Nelson, Citra and Galaxy, however for the anniversary the size of the dry hop charge went off the rails… we’re talking about total loss of cabin pressure type dry hop levels.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We detect elevated levels of floral green mango citrus, pineapple deepened candied grapefruit dank, and soft pulpy apricot peach character all cohesively pulled together with that softness we seek from the magical combination our grist formulation, water chemistry, and our beloved house ale yeast. 8% ABV now and for hopefully at least another 5 years.
    _________________________________________________________________

@Sorithin With it being Anniversary Weekend it's hard to tell bu they usually have at least something last into the following week on regular release. Some stuff will sell out but not everything. If I had to guess, and now knowing the yields, I would say Just to Get a Rep, DDH Last Broadcast and 5th Anniv Bottle will lilkely be the quickest to sell and probably not make it through the weekend. There could be some locals who are saving their $$ for Veil in a couple weeks so that could help some stuff stick around longer than usual.

Triple Crossing usually splits remaining stuff up pretty equally among both locations on Saturday but Downtown / Foushee St. would likely have stuff lasting longer since most people gravitate towards Fulton. They update their website and Untappd daily so you could always track availability there next week to know what's left.

Prism Triangles - Our latest IPA offering comes by the way of multiple triangle variants condensed into the strongest natural shapes… Prism triangles was built on equal portions of Mosaic, Nelson, and El Dorado. Hopped as aggressively as our other triangles beers, this one delivers mango, citrus orange oil, melon and peach. 6% ABV.

We will be announcing final details and pricing list for all beers later today."

So if I am understanding this, Foushee will have everything on tap on Friday/Saturday with leftover cans/bottles becoming available on Saturday as well.

That's how I take it. They updated their Untappd menu for both locations within the past 30 minutes. All 9 of the beers are showing at Fulton on tap. 7 of the 9 are showing on the Downtown taplist. The 2 missing are Anniv DDH Falcon Smash and Space Falcon Anniv Edition so not sure if they are truly not on or they just forgot to add those to the menu.

For those wondering if there's a line, UTC fb page has a line thread. About 25 deep as of last post 6-7 minutes ago (11am). Expect it to grow over the next hour before opening but nothing insane to rush out thinking FOMO. Just wait out the lunch rush and show up a couple hours after open and line will probably be much shorter. Of course Ive been wrong before saying this as the line was consistently long all day.

My guess with so many releasing is they will be selling from the warehouse space in the far back so for those who have not been to TBC Fulton before keep in mind that once you get inside there's probably another 30 or so people in line you can't see from the outside.

Post just after 11:30am confirmed sales will in fact be from the back room inside and the line is 25 deep into the parking lot so guesstimating at least 50 people with 30 mins to go.

Limits for V will be dropped to 2pp SATURDAY per brewery. Someone also mentioned 22 cases will be released just as was today.

As of this post everything else still available.

Downtown will have everything on tap except the two Falcon Smash pours. From a TC FB Comment: We will have all of the releases available on draft Downtown except the Falcon variants.

Cans, I believe, will be split between Downtown and Fulton tomorrow but they also state: V - 5th Year Anniversary Bourbon Barrel Aged Blend - Bottle - $17 per 500ml bottle (4 bottle limit, dropped to 2pp for Saturday as TomCat noted) - We will have equal allotments available for both Friday and Saturday FULTON ONLY.

Glasses have also been listed as 1pp and 2pp. Event page says 2pp, the post on fb says 1pp.

I can't believe they only had 40ish cases - 4pp seems insane at that level. That said, I'm glad they didn't announce how limited it was like some other brewers. I was able to sneak out and grab mine since I can't tomorrow. Line was brutally slow at first but picked up as it went on a bit. Nobody snuck out for lunch and made it back in an hour with cans.

I was really disappointed how they managed this. Only way it makes sense if they've never had a line before with limited allotments and weren't able to manage on the fly. And 2PP tomorrow leads me to believe that is the case.

I was in line a little before 1... Waited about 45 minutes before I got to the point of sale... And they were sold out of the stout without dropping limits before the line came close to clearing. Everything else lasted.

The cynic in me feels like the plan the whole time was to get people who missed out to come back tomorrow. Because everything else lasted and it was dead once the line cleared. But very poor form either way, in my opinion.

Going to try and stop by Foushee today for cans. Untappd is saying they do have Space Falcon and Falcon smash on tap but they do not have the Past is Prologue.
