I'm going to be in Woodbury for a wedding soon. It's going to be a quick trip and being in the wedding will take up a lot of my time I'm sure, so I won't have a lot of time to brewery hop (which I'd love to do, but alas...). Any suggestions for getting the most bang for my buck? Bar with a great local draft list, or bottle shop with local stuff? Do Equilibrium/Hudson Valley/Rushing Duck see distro? Any help is appreciated!
Rushing Duck sells cans and crowlers to go, and isn't very far at all, may 10-15 minutes and pretty close to the exit from Rt 17. For a broader selection, Beer King in Middletown also has a crowler station and usually carries a lot of locals like EQ and District 96. You can check their Beermenus page to see what's available at the time. They are closer to 25 minutes away.
Not sure about right there at Woodbury but EQ, HV, RD and cable beverage are all in the range of a half hour drive away, if you can make a short getaway that’s what I’d recommend. Woodbury proper is your choice for outlet shopping with busloads of Japanese and Euro tourists, not so much great beer. But it’s all close!
Assuming the wedding is at the Fox Hollow, Syosset Beverage is less than a mile away and has a good selection.
Are you talking Woodbury Long Island or Woodbury upstate? If its Long Island, Black Sheep Ale House is a must visit. Syosset beverage has a very good selection (look behind/next to the counter) but check the dates on IPAs. Also Sand City is about 25 mins from Woodbury and I would suggest making time to go there. They always have cans to go.
Two Woodburys!?! But yes, upstate, not LI. Sounds like Beer King may be a good bet for wider variety.
I hope it works out well for you- I just checked and the taplist seems to be just what you're looking for (2 Rushing Duck, 3 EQ, 3 D96, 1 Grimm, etc...). Have a great trip!
ive learned it depends on who you ask. if they live on the 'main land' of new york, its not upstate, but if you ask literally anyone else, it is.
::shrug:: I was given two options by BoardwalkBock; LI or upstate and I know I'm not going to Long Island.
