I wasn't a huge fan of Yes or DB Zhukov either. Emo Duck is my jam (...) though.

Tbh thought dB Zhukov was more mild than bba Zhukov.

Think I might have to do a side by side

The DB Zhukov from round (I think 7?) was a an amazing beer. I know this one has different barrels and I think 18 Zhukov was really bad compared to last Zhukov so I’m interested to see what I think of the new version.

I had yes, always last night and that is a damn good beer. CCB gets more out of barrels as far as flavor and complexity more consistently than anyone else I’ve had multiple examples from to compare. I thought common fate (round 8?) was an amazing and comparable beer. No adjuncts, just thick stout and tons of complexity from barrel aging.

This wasn't as off-putting as it sounds--I found it pretty enjoyable.

$25.00 bottles. They charged us $35.00 in the El Catadore club as an extra bottle available.

Yep. I was a little salty when I read that. You can probably use the discount, too. So really 20+tax. Got ripped off by $15.

That was my take on it.

If you buy something when it releases at full price and it goes on sale several months down the line were you ripped off? I don't really understand the sentiment.

Yes. And if I owned it with the tags on (unopened) with the receipt I’d return it. I doubt CCB will let me return my bottle and buy the sale price though.

Not saying they aren’t allowed to do that. I just feel like I got got just like I would feel if I bought something that went on sale for 40% off shortly after. And especially if when I purchased for the high price the merchant made it seem like a perk for being a part of their membership club.

Again, to be clear. CCB can do what they want. It’s completey fair. Doesn’t mean I have to feel good about it.

It's not just "if you buy something"...it was offered to those holding an "exclusive" membership, where people were committing money ahead of time and were supposedly being treated in a preferred manner separate from the general public.

Giving the general public a better deal seems contrary to the spirit of the club, especially considering all the other "limited" shit they put out in the taproom has a massive UPCHARGE on it, as opposed to a discount, which makes this feel like a particularly targeted, unexpected slap in the face.

My guess is they have a fair amount of this beer left (honestly I think it doesn’t sound that appealing to most people pineapple in a stout, no thanks) and they want to move it out quickly, as is the case with many sale things. I’m fine with it. My main reason is I also don't foresee this being the norm I think it is a rare occurrence because they have a lot left
