I was there, too! I was at the back tables texting with a friend asking exactly what he wanted when I saw a romantic pretzel exchange right in front of my eyes! No joke.

We need to arrange a SC meetup. Friday afternoons are perfect for me. LFG!

I was the really tall guy wearing the hooded sweatshirt with the little girl munching on pretzels, I’m assuming you were at the middle table with a buddy?

I’d be in. I could get someone to watch my youngest for one Friday at least. Blew my chance to meet up with @JamFuel and @EMH73 due to family holiday stuff so anything going on would be cool.

My arm could very easily be twisted to going back. Damn that hurt, OK I'm in.

Pockets of Fog a bit different than most Sand City, but super enjoyable! Good week for Sand City, Infinity Minus one + 2 cans now too. Awesome to drive up to Sand City and not have to wait in a line. Just goes to show how short-sighted those Sunday releases were.

I'm seriously out of the loop then. :flushed:
Fantastic news though. as long as all (or most) of the cans available in Northport also make it to Lindenhurst (doubt there'll be any overlap in the beers brewed), I will be extremely happy. My wallet...not so much.

P.S. Is Root + Branch brewery only for cans? Pretty sure I've seen cans at some area shops, but I could be wrong. Also, where is 27A going to be located?

Ignore the Root + Branch question. Just checked their site and saw they're currently gypsy brewers.

R+B should be opening in the next few months, probably in the Summer. I’m not sure of the exact location but it’ll be by the Copaigue LIRR station and 27a will be also in Lindenhurst right by that LIRR station. They should be open really soon. I’ve never had their beer but I’ve heard really good things about their IPAs.

We're looking at late fall now... Zoning hearing next month. Public hearing in June. We'll be lucky if we have our building permits by July. The Town of Babylon is really taking their time with things - its been extremely frustrating.

The CVS on Wellwood was the first location we looked out when we started looking for spaces. Great location, but needs a lot of work done on the interior to make it functional for brewing. I hope all works out for Kevin and Bill, as they'd be great neighbors!

A lot of crap seems to be flying around both in Babylon and Town of Islip too. I don’t really get what’s going on with them as it seems, lately, like the addition of a brewery/tap room has been, basically, a boon to the location and it’s neighbors. The Hopwins guys (not sure if you’re friendly with them, good dudes) have been getting their chains pulled lately too. 27a was supposed to have been opened by now too. It’s really ridiculous.

Anyway, good luck to you and Ryan. I’ve said it before, I live in the Town of Babylon and they can be very frustrating to deal with. Like, talking to a wall frustrating. Can’t imagine what it’s like opening a business. You guys deserve a good spot, not some jerking around.

Try talking to them on the phone. I’ve had 2 issues with them and both times I literally wanted to drive to town hall and wring someone’s neck. One time I had some lackey talking to me like I was a child. I got transferred like 4 times, none of them had a clue. Over something they fucked up. I’m not surprised to hear what @xenjoiii is saying.

I should have added to my last post that, at least, it seems the Secatogue guys are opening soon. But, again, those guys have been jumping through hoops too.

Jeez, another one I'm hearing about for the first time. Where will they be?

Union Blvd in West Islip just east of Higbie, right next to Long River Chinese food (which is excellent for pick-up). They’ve got a pretty good buzz around them and the tasting room looks very nice, kinda beachy with some tables set up outside. It’s not a huge space but it’s definitely not small. Supposedly opening first weekend of May.

Cool. Looked up Hopwins too and they're like a 5 minute drive from home for me. When all these places are finally up and running (fingers crossed) I'll no longer feel like I'm living in a brewery wasteland (relatively speaking).

The majority of municipalities on Long Island are notoriously hard to deal with. I work with the highway and building depts in all the munis across the Island and its not an easy task. You think Babylon is a pain in the ass (they are), try getting anything done in East Hampton. You need a permit to cut your fingernails in that damn Town.

The whole logistics for how these towns/villages/two cities work on the Island make zero sense. It’s almost as if they intentionally work to hamper economic development and sources of income to downtown areas. Now economic development is not to be confused with over development, which is what most of the public believes and loses their shit over.

You guys should read up on the fiscal disaster in Long Beach as a prime lesson of how to not run a government.

Anyhow, can’t wait for all these new breweries to pop up right down Ocean Pkwy from me. Also not surprised SC is looking at a new location. The Village of Northport has basically put a strangehold on them in terms of growth. I wonder if they will keep both locations? If they close the original taproom, it will mean I’ll never have to go to Northport again.

Anyone had both the OH/Great Notion and SC/Great Notion collabs? I declare the Sand City beer the winner.

Agreed. Wasn’t really close for me. 4.49 to 4.31. Both great, though!
