My only real interest is I've never tried one of Shaun's beers. But you're right, especially given how many options there are right now (and NvU Vs. the Haze coming as well).

NvU vs. the Haze is really nothing like Shauns beers. Hop butcher is closest to the style that he is putting out.

Not that it isn't good, just not the same style

I didn't mean to imply it was. I just meant that there are a million hazy beers in Chicago to scratch the itch with (including NVU vs. The Haze which people were losing their minds over the first time), so I'm specifically interested in these because I've never had them. Mostly in response to croush's comment.

PT sells it to LZBC like they would any other retailer. They're able to do this because of the relatively recent IL law that allows breweries to sell to directly each other. So yes, LZBC sees profits just like any other retailer would.

If you buy 3 drafts, 2 LZBC & 1 PT, then PT will see not see any profits from that entire sale. LZBC would gain all profits from that sale, and even more on their own beers.

I wouldn’t kill your self trying to track this batch down. I think these beers will eventually be incredible but this first batch is disappointing. Drinking a protocol now and it doesn’t live up to the hype. I got a mixed 4 pack and I am glad I didn’t get a 4 pack of each. Time may help these beers but a major let down IMO.

Makes me feel better about the asshole on untappd that bought 4 4 packs and showed them off in his check in.

Why in the world is someone even selling half of their fucking allotment to one guy who just wants them to show off? What a waste.

I dunno, but it's the same reason I can't get a fucking bottle of Pappy to save my life. Social media has made it much easier to track things down quickly, but the (huge) downside is the rise of that specific branch of "brag culture."

Yeah I saw that, and then his comments “Hoping the hop burn will fall off in a week or so, and it’ll be even better!” - 4.25 :rolling_eyes:

I wish they did this more discreetly in the comment section of their posts like Hop Butcher does. I feel like posting this stuff promotes truck chasing. But then again, maybe that's just sour grapes on my part since I can't get there until later.

I do not agree with this. Phase 3 beer do not taste like hop butcher beer. Id put somewhere between corridor and maplewood.

The hop burn people are talking about just came of as some Columbus dankness. It was easy to finish a can, which wouldn't be the case for me if it were indeed hop burn. But maybe there is some can variation going on...

edit: i haven't had a ton of MoRe beer so hard to say if this first drop from P3 is reminiscent of what shawn was drawing up at MoRe

My guess is that they're trying to be as proactive and communicative as possible since this is their first ever release. Once they see the truck-chasers lurking in the shadows at every stop, they may re-think this decision.

Or just imagine Galaxy Bowl and how the subsequent ones never lived up to the original. :astonished:

The last 5oz of my can were undrinkable. It left a bile like burn in my throat. There's a great beer under all that burn but mine was intense.

yea mine was just some notable dankness on the front of my tongue, sounds like can variation for sure. I had two cans of marmalade last night

I had it on tap at LZB yesterday. Myself and the few others there at the time agreed that it was very green with an acidic burn in the finish. The last of my glass almost made me start coughing because of how dry it made my throat. It lingered until I left and took a swig of water I had in my car.

I got there around 1-1:15. Probably 3 cases of each behind the desk or so. One 4 pack per person. Luckily I ran into a buddy there so we each bought a 4 pack then swapped 2 cans to get a mixed 4 pack. He snagged the last glass. It wasn't nearly as crazy as I expected it to be. Easy lunch pickup. Odd that you couldn't get 1 of each 4 pack but I lucked out splitting mine.
