I hear ya! I think there is a disconnect between what I chose for money spent versus my belly. I think my belly is not keeping my secret.

I tried to hoard some Bamburana but once my buddies found out I got some in a trade, they didn't survive.

I got two 4-packs in a trade, probably should have done more though not sure how it ages. The trader offered to send more and I'm tempted. I'm still holding out hope we'll get it here, since we got BA Fidy a couple of months after other markets.

The fact that some people pay more a month on beer than I do on my car, or day care, or my kids tuition is shocking.

Currently $50 - $100 per month, substantially less than when I lived in N.J., where I could (and did) easily spend that much pretty much every week.

Used to be $40/week. I can proudly say I'm down to $100/ month.

One brewery visit a month goes for about $30, then two-three package store visits.

I'm not quite believing the voting though. $50-$100 is super bargain level cutting back.

Most people I know will eat out/ drink out twice a week for $30-$40 alone, and then have package store buys. That's easily $200/month for most people IMHO.

I try to keep it to 300 a month. It makes drinking out more painful but I'm a also trying to take one week a month off this year. That means it's basically 100 a week. It's not easy for me

Thankfully I track all of my non-essential spending, so I am able to calculate exactly how much I have spent. I came up with the following:

$1,314 spent on all alcohol since October 1st, 2018. That averages out to just under $200 per month.

Of that total amount, however, I would estimate about 85% of it was spent on beer.

We also have a kegerator in our basement, which can cause the amount to fluctuate depending on how recently fresh kegs were purchased. For instance, this week I plan on picking up two new 1/6 barrels which will cost about $200 combined. That would put my beer spending for the month of April significantly higher than March, for example.

Not sure what I was expecting. $200 seems pretty high but we typically keep a fridge stocked full of high quality beer. And based on the rest of the posts, that looks to be about in line with what others have reported.

It seems to me we are following this graph, with dollars/month horizontally:

I used to get tipped about $40 a week in nickel bottle returns, and have again since January, but that ends in a week (thank God can't wait to retire again) and once more I will have to spend that $100 - $150 a month out of my own pocket. Nowadays you can drink amazing beer every day for that, and I do

$500+ every month? Man I gotta meet up with the folks who spend that and get some friend pours going.

$50-$100, but it's much closer to the bottom end. On average I drink a 6-pack/week (usually Thurs-Sun), almost all at-home consumption (bar/tap room/restaurant visits are rare). I don't trade or travel for beer. I usually stock up with 2-3 months worth and try not to buy any more until all that's gone. Average expenditure goes up during Fall/Winter – Big Beer season (stouts, barleywines, etc).

Enough to carry the note on a vacation cabin I expect but that would limit my vacation choices whereas beer offers me unlimited choices.

For me it depends, when I'm drinking a couple of beers every night I'll spend probably 80-100 a month but some months I don't drink at all and spend 0.

Around $300- 350 (£230/270) a month on cans. Cans are around $8-10 in the UK for the good stuff. Proabably around another $200 in various Pubs & taprooms. That's just on beer, having stopped my Wine buying as I have way too much, which in the past could easily run to >$500- most months.

May I ask what you consider "the good stuff"? Because I can easily buy cans from Cloudwater, Northern Monk, Wylam and some other top UK breweries for like 4-7€ in Germany.

About $4000/year, 99% is consumed within my own walls. And yes, I'm somewhat OCD and track it on a spreadsheet.

I quoted in dollars, but that still works out £6-8 a can, which is the cost in the UK for the likes of Verdant, Deya, Cloudwater DIPA's & TIPA's, a little less for IPA's which I typically pay around £5 so around $7 for those. For example, the 2 recent collab beers from Cloudwater were both £8- direct from the brewery which is around $10- per can. It's cheaper to buy direct from the breweries, of course, but still around £5-£5.50 and you need to add £1 per can for postage if you buy 6. I find local bottle shops vary but typically around £1-2 premimum a can on these prices. Cheers.
