Will be spending a day in Boulder before our trip to Rocky Mt. National Park. Will be arriving around noon & need some ideas to spend the day in Boulder. Breweries of course will take up majority of our time (suggestions greatly appreciated), but some "locals" eating establishments would also be appreciated. Thanks for any & all suggestion.. Will be in Denver a few days later so trying to keep it to Boulder and anywhere to the North. Cheers..
Rancon Argentino for food. Avery is a must. It is an awesome taproom and a great time. If you wanna hit Lafayette on the way Odd 13 and Cellar West are great.
I’m surprised it hasn’t been mentioned yet, but Backcounty Pizza is just up the Street from Rincon Argentino. I’ve lost tract of their total number of taps, I think it’s currently hovering between 65 and 75. Well worth an hour, or so. Their small patio out front is a great option on a warm afternoon.
City Star in Berthoud just a little north of Boulder. On the day you do RMNP, you can try three breweries plus a beer garden in Estes, then if you do the whole loop from Estes to Grand Lake through the park and back via US 34, Granby has a brewery, Fraser is opening their brewery next Saturday, Winter Park has two (pretty sure Moffat Station quit brewing), and Empire has one before you reach I 70...
That’s given that Trail Ridge Road is Open. If OP gets to Colorado at or around Memorial Day, that is a great option, but I think this was an above average snow year up there, so TRR might not open until the 1st of June, or so.
I'll 2nd Avery. Also check out Upslope. Back Country is well worth the stop. They have an incredible beer list. The pizza ain't bad either.
Avery has never been my favorite brewer* but I'll 3rd Avery being a must stop in that area. *I do like some of their stuff.
Depending on your route through RMNP, Rock Cut Brewing in Estes Park is a killer small brewery and only a couple miles from the Estes RMNP exit. Even though they're tiny, I'd say their beers are on par with our heavy hitters.
True, though I was guessing he'd be here later in the springs/summer. Doubt that Trail Ridge will be open Memorial Day this year. Maybe but...
Definitely go to Backcountry Pizza. Avery and Upslope are fun to visit but if I were hitting breweries in the Boulder area I would just head 15 minutes east to Lafayette, where you can go to Liquid Mechanics, Cellar West, Odd 13, and then Romero's K9 Club & Tap House.
