Brouwerij West (2019)

Last year was their 7 year anniversary, so that would put them as opening in 2011. They have now switched to marking anniversaries from when they applied for the name trademark.

If I'm not mistaking this shows their IPA (not really good) as sometime in 2010. Yes it was known as Noble Ale Works back then. Maybe they don't count their first year (2010) as Noble Ale Works. Maybe their first year was when Evan took over for them > 2011. That was sometime after their 1 year anniversary (which I went to-not very good either). But I could be wrong here.

 

I drove there from Anaheim for the first time late Saturday afternoon in the rain. That was one hell of a journey. Luckily I was in a rental.

The fact that so many people are losing their shit over this beer on Instagram, purely because of that dinosaur label, shows pretty succinctly how this hobby has been totally taken over by a bunch of thumb-sucking man-babies.

This was never about the beer, the glasses sold-out in 35 minutes and I can probably bet you that over half there did not buy the beer. It's that FOMO glassware crowd that I just don't get.

On a venn diagram, man-babies and FOMO glass nerds would crossover eachother almost completely. You should see the Answer glassware group. Those men yearn for their childhoods at an almost unhealthy level. Put something nostalgic from the 80s or 90s on a glass with a hop inserted somewhere in the design and they lose their damn minds.

 

I've never been one to go crazy for glassware, but I have to ask: who the fuck cares? If someone gets a lot of enjoyment out of getting a glass with Mario on it, cool, you do you! Every hobby is fundamentally stupid: I'm not sure craft beer fandom is any less ridiculous than glassware fandom...
