Sand City (2019)

I haven’t tried the OH collab but Lava Dome was really good. The sweetness was subdued for a 15%er.

 

First time back on the island in a long time and no IPAs to-go at Sand City. Gotta be a first.

 

That J. Wakefield dipa collab is tasting bananas right now. I like it more now than when it was fresh. Dank lemon off the charts and really smooth.

 

I know its been mentioned somewhere in this thread but cant seem to find it.... whats the deal with growlers at SC again? Are most available for fills / will they fill one from another brewery?

 

They fill straight from the tap, I don’t even think they use a hose. You can get any growler filled. Not all beers are always available for fills, mostly they are but sometimes the limited ones not available on weekends. Check out Instagram, they usually update their story most days with availability.

 

Drinking my first Lava Dome now, really good. Smooth, toasty, super carbonated. Just wish this 15% beer didn’t come in 16 ounce cans.

 

Has anyone ever told you before that you’re old?

Fuck you for being in DR. I’m on vacation stuck on Long Island with my kids. I wish I was there. I’m guessing you brought some beers with you considering you had a Lava Dome.

 

Love this place, it is awesome, so calm and serene.

Good news is, bring all your beer from home, makes for a great vacation and no one here cares.

 

they will fill any type growler. there are NO growler fills for beers that are offered via cans.

 

I'm in the Town of Hempstead and the bureaucratic bullshit is no different. Nothing can get done in a timely fashion.

Anyone try that Secret Spot Series DIPA yet? The hop combo sounds intriguing. Would like to hear an opinion or two...

 

I picked up a 4 pack today but have yet to try it. I was really hesitant because I really dislike Idaho 7 but I was there already so..why not? I’ll probably open one tomorrow and will chime in.

On another note, my girlfriend brought home a can of Best Seat In The House from September 2018 that I left in her parents fridge. I opened it a little while ago and its honestly still pretty tasty. Hops have obviously faded and there is the candied malt flavor coming through pretty heavy but its enjoyable.

 

Stopped in at SC yesterday and Picked up 2 4pks...its fantastic..arguably the best IPA, ive had in 2019..so good im considering heading back today to get more
