Wow. Very interesting. If I were out of state, sought after breweries I'd utilize this as much as possible, especially if other states have similar licenses. Imagine someone like Treehouse loading up a couple of trucks with their product, driving to Illinois and unloading it all at a few select stores. They could sell this at their full retail price to the stores nd then those resellers could jack up price over it and it would still sell out with huge lines.... Rotate states every 30 days.

Not needed. Sought after breweries only need to sell onsite. Distribution agents then max out on allotments and do all the distribution work/cost themselves. Why should a brewery do all that work when customers already do it for them?

Publicity and ego. What looks better on social media- "oh look another line at Treehouse" or "*Insert City Here* overwhelmed by local beer geeks seeking to obtain rare, sought after Massachusettes' beer"?

the social media "ROI" would not makeup for the actual labor, time, and cost involved with such undertakings.

    amusing in theory though.

Fischman's and The Green Lady are both going to have Weldwerks stuff on draft, I don't think there's anything shady going on at Moreno's.

I definitely agree with your last sentence.

Casey Apricot Fruit Stand is the one I remember.

Yet somehow these breweries that are coming out here bring beer to sell....

Yes but they are already coming to an Illinois festival where they apparently needed the license - so it’s tacking something on to a sunk cost. That’s very different from:

How so is it different? What value is there for Weldwerks to haul a couple cases in from Colorado and go to the trouble of driving these around Chicago? if the beer is going to sell in Colorado anyway, why bring it?

Free marketing. Publicity in a large beer market like Chicago surely wouldn’t hurt them.

Did anyone stop to think that maybe they just wanted to do a nice thing? Jesus this world sucks. It goes right to an ultrrior motive versus “damn the beer community is truly about good people, a craft and sharing that craft with others (outside of lines, mules and truck chasers)

There was a bunch of "out of market" NE IPA's (and NvUvH) available to-go at Fischman's liquor store last night. Weldwerks, New Image...couple others.

Not sure if any lasted, but if you're in the area, worth stopping in.

Open Bottle had Weldwerks Juicy Bits 4-packs for sale yesterday and Crafted will have them tomorrow. Weldwerks brought a bunch of cases in town since they will be at Smells Like A Beer Fest.

Open Bottle mentioned on their Facebook that Weldwerks said "we'll see their beers more regularly". Hopefully that means distro to the Chicagoland area in the future.

I would guess 75 people or so when they opened? I was pretty pleased with the limits, you could walk away with a lot of great beer today if you wanted to. Can't wait to try a few tonight.

It seems like you don’t understand or refuse to acknowledge the concept of killing two birds with one stone.

If anyone else is looking for Equilibrium and you are in the city, Binny's in Lincoln Park has CASES of each out on the floor and no one seems to give a shit.

Fairly certain they were supposed to hold the beer until 2 when they have the brewer coming in, but there were 5 or so cases of everything, including sexier fluc.

No it's more not following your logic of how it doesn't make sense to kill 10 birds with 5 stones, but it does to kill two with one stone.
