I could throw in other Lagers, for the hell of it. Like Deschutes Da Shootz. That could mix things up severely.

Thanks for the blast from the past. In the mid 70's Red White and Blue was the equal to drinking Old Milwaukee. We preferred Old Style and Olympia. PBR was a beer our father and grandfather drank.

A couple of years ago I tried to find beers young and old people drank in the 70's from the AAL list .The usual suspects on the list we beers one could pound down and drink many. The suggestion of Grandpa Beers might be an opportunity to share beers with three generations with the 50th anniversary of Woodstock this year.

My grandfather on my mother's side drank Gosser but mostly Schnapps. He was Austrian.

My grandfather on my father's side, I have no idea. He was Hungarian.

My maternal grandpa owned a bar, and I recall him having three beers around. Blatz, PBR and Buckhorn.

Nice to hear thoughts from that era which I remember but was a touch before my time. What were your thoughts on the so called premiums of that time....Andeker, Michelob, Erlanger, Lowenbrau (miller brewed) etc...

I'm cerrtain that I tried Michelob and Lowenbrau, but not likely for Andeker or Erlanger. All of them were too expensive. I lived in the Cleveland area most of the time during that era, and I stuck with my $3 case of Schmidts in returnable bottles.

I’d get a woodie popping an old time goodie like Schmidt’s. Regionally nostalgic I’m sure, like Old Style, like Pearl or Lone Star, like Olympia etc.

Those beers were in the (so-called) "Super Premium" price segment.
Look, even said so right in the papers - - - sometimes.

"Regionally nostalgic" yes since it was brewed in Cleveland at the time.

I think Schmidt's of Philadelphia was brewing in both cities. They took over the old Carling brewery in Cleveland. Am I right on that @jesskidden?
