you're a smart fella, and since you're all in on this scheme, can you compute some rough numbers on how much it would cost to self-distribute beer cross country 12 times a year?

Definitely regretting I delved into this, but Weldwerks is already here and they are expanding on a license they already had to get since they are coming to Mikerphone's festival. That's a second bird with a stone that was already thrown.

Your idea of Treehouse blitzkrieging 12 different states each month of the year would be creating 12 new birds and requiring 12 new stones. 1:1 ratio.

    Reported.

Lol, you do realize the amount of breweries that distribute nationwide (50 states) on a weekly basis (52 times a year)right- interstate distro isn't so cost prohibitive it is preventing this from occurring. If they use a distributor they are only getting 1/3 of what the beer sells for after the distributor and retailer take out their cut. I stand by my scheme.

So somehow the temporary license is cheap enough to justify a brewer buying it to come out and give away free beer at a fest, but it's too expensive if you just wanted to bring a semi-truck load to sell. Got it....

So, if I choose to sacrifice 1 bird to save the other 11 birds, does that decision create a weighted scale in this scenario? And if so, how much does donating the remaining stones tip said scale?

This is like at my hospital and a patient or family thinks they know more than me because they looked some stuff up on WebMD. Point being pretty much everyone here has no idea on how to run a brewery. Just cuz we drink their beer doesn't make us smart at business.

This. It's like when it's not stout season we have nothing to talk about, so everyone fights about the most benign shit. The only thing that surprises me so far is that no one is trotting out the Econ 102 principles about supply and demand that no one wants to hear about. Anyone willing to bring us full circle?

But seriously, this type of arguing belongs in the Mikerphone thread. Get ahold of yourself people!

I was at Binnys LP this morning and the Equilibrium prices are nuts. $24-$26 for the DIPA's. I guess in New York they are $20. I had a few pours at Forbidden Root and they are good, but many breweries in Chicago are just as good.

Is there a reason to be concerned about it? I've had Boss Tweed so much over the past couple years and it's been very consistent. I hadn't heard if there were recent issues with some batches, so wondered if that's why you were inquiring.

His question is valid knowing the history of the beer and how much they’ve improved on consistency

It’s a great beer. I’ve never had a bad batch, so just wondering if I missed something...especially considering this...

As I mentioned, I’ve been drinking BT and M-43 for a couple years since I get back to MI frequently and have family there. Have I just been missing bad batches...or is this something newer since they started distro here? I admittedly haven’t bought any in IL since it’s arrived here.

M-43 was been pretty inconsistent for me in the past (which in fairness was before it came to IL). I haven't had enough Boss Tweed to say one way or another - the couple times I had it, it was very good

Interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad batch. But, perhaps I’m not remembering correctly. Or maybe somehow fate gives Spartans the good batches.
