This thread is a real treat. I don't know what people expect More to do...someone complains about a line-up release, someone complains about a lottery system and someone complains about an online sale. As a consumer, I take part in them if I want to. Aside from the screwup with the early sales of the Henna today, I thought the release worked exactly how it should for an online sale. I was happy they did online, as I couldn't line up next weekend, and my lottery luck is complete shit.

    And...I got zero bottles today.

Oh, and there's no "secret" formula for getting tickets, whether it's mobile, PC, app, website, etc. It's all complete luck.

They had early sales of Mehndi too. More looks really, really stupid in this.

Didnt get either bottle despite being on top of it. It sucks, but ive lost basically nothing so i cant feel too bad. On the other hand, Im surprised they chose this route. Given how well the lineup release last year went I would have thought they would continue that into this year.

If they do tickets, I think the crucial add on needs to be the surprise timing. It gives the best opportunity to the people who closely follow More and beer rather than people with the fastest router or good luck. Again, Im over it but I dont think this is the best way to do it if your goal is to put your beer in the hands of people who care about your brewery the most

You mean that both links went live before Noon, right? And then they shut them down pre-Noon? I knew about that. It's all the same mistake, and in the end it doesn't bother me that much, although I think they need to tighten things up and should've cancelled those sales. I doubt it would've made much of a difference for me to get one, though.

I'm not More apologist by any means, but I don't see them looking really, really stupid. A bad decision IMO to not cancel the early sales, but whatever. It's done.

There's no easy solution to this, though, and I'm not sure if they're concerned all that much about it. If they did, it seems like it doesn't make sense having the sales be on the weekend when more beer nerds come into the Chicagoland area from out of town than any other weekend.

This is the most egregious thing. Why wouldn't they cancel them? Laziness?

It seems like it'd be very easy to do. They laid out very specifically the parameters, and then just screwed over a good portion of people who followed them and rewarded those who didn't.

Also, how difficult is it to set up a release like this through a ticket event? How do places screw these things up all the time? I'm genuinely curious . . .

I agree, although to some extent even doing lines forces people to at least signal their desire for More beer by lining up. Regardless, it depends on whether More wants to benefit consistent customers. I agree, im not sure they do and Im not even sure they should from a business standpoint given the importance of being nationally recognized. Its up to them to run their business. I recognize that and the fact that im certainly biased because I "lost" here. I just think theres a lot of reasons to say this method was bad.

Oh, I agree - it probably didn't make any difference in getting a bottle. I think More acknowledged that only 20 bottles of Mehndi were sold early. And I agree, the early sales should have been cancelled, but I don't care that much about it.

It just makes More look incompetent that they mess up the time on their own release. The fact that the Mehndi page on EventBrite initially said the release was Tuesday, May 8, doesn't help either. They got the date wrong, and May 8 is a Wednesday besides. Just sloppy.

Lottery would be the simplest way to be above reproach, but this is way more fun to watch the chaos

I'd rather have a 1% chance with todays method than 0% chance with a lottery.

    Eventbrite is a lottery.

Lottery leaves the opportunity that friends/family get first (most) dibs. At least I know people are suffering with me this method.

So, the morons can't get the date right, and can't enter the right time for their release, but people are supposed to believe them on those numbers? They absolutely look incompetent.

    FB priceless as always-

Says guy hiding his location so probably in WI:
"What I find most laughable is More Brewing Co. Claiming having an online release is for the best interest of their locals and regulars.
I could possibly buy that if bottle pickup wasn't the weekend thousands of non local craft beer drinkers will be in town for dark lord day."

Says guy that cant read that they have 15k followers on FB:
"What's even more damning is they said they were releasing 780 bottles at 2pm, which is impossible with people not even seeing a green button for tickets"

Says guy that lives and breathes FB:
"Sorry MoRE but you need to release 400 more bottles exclusively to Facebook users!"

Says the guy that gets it:
"It's hard to believe that more than 800 people had access to either computers or smart phones with internet connection at the same time for a scheduled release. Damn Russian spies!!!!"

Ill say my favorite method has been the BBT SP release. Tell people the day but not the exact time. You cant tell aunt Betty to be watching her social media all day, but if you care enough you can be on top of it yourself. I think it gives people who care the best way to get a bottle who care but not allow individuals to pull in others to hoard bottles. Just my two cents

Late to the party here, but I like many people got Mehndi and not Henna. I'm fine with it, glad I got one or the other, but the rumors about this leaked out link to friends and family that seemed to have spread like wildfire definitely gave me a sour taste in my mouth. There is no way in hell that they dipped into their cellar stock to replenish all of the early bottle sales like they claimed to have. I would be super curious to know how many BA henna bottles actually sold at noon.

Honestly, they shut down the sales before noon pretty quick. I got in right after 11:30, and I'll be honest, it wasn't from a link that went to "friends and family" or anything like people suggest.

    Eventbrite emailed the link out

People just need to realize that "Unavailable" does not mean sold out. I kept refreshing for both releases when thr event said "Unavailable", and I scored tickets at 12:08 and 2:11. Keep trying until it officially says "Sold Out"
