We are slacking. In 2017 we were at page 100 when the variant list was released

 

List looks good. I wouldn't be disappointed to end up with any of those. Glad they're not doing a scotch barrel one. I can't recall ever liking any beer I've had that's aged in scotch barrels (and I like scotch, too).

 

This may well be the best variant list in half a decade - only two that don't sound good! Fuggin FVM is still in a white wine barrel which is a crying ass shame, and you can keep that mezcal as far away from me as possible... the rest all sound great though. And for whoever doesn't want Cavaleiro, I will take literally all of them off your hands, that was one of my favorites last year.

And best of all, no godforsaken scotch barrel variants, the dark lord be praised.

 

People were down on Brotilla and Brozerker before they had them last year and they ended up being very well liked. I wouldn't be surprised if Brosure is solid too. I don't see a GTM or Turtledogg on the list.

That’s how it is every year. Some variants that don’t sound good on paper turn out to be “ok”- “pretty damn good” or they turned out to be the shit that people expected. I’m just gonna have drink them all on tap and judge for myself

I would tend to the decline in posts has as much to do with a general declines in beeradvocate activity than dark lord popularity.

 

I’m glad the bubble burst finally. Sick of reading 102 pages about Wu Tang, stupid ass made up band names, baby sharks, abortions by dragons and whatever other ridiculous bullshit people makeup in this thread that they think is funny. Yes, I’m a DLD thread grinch (if that’s possible).
I know I don’t have to read/follow this thread every year but it’s been tradition for a long time, and one that gets harder and harder to keep up with as the years go on.

but to get this train back on track, to not anger the locals, heres the variants i'm most excite for
loadstar and rrari because of coconut. I'm glad they finally found their way in to dl varints

Yeah I'm hype on the coconut, but I'm with @Zoomslowik here... curious as to what a "sauternes whiskey" or "port whiskey" barrel is - double barreled? Multi-use barrels? I wouldn't be mad about either of those options, just unsure why they would specify the different barrels on Lounge and be weirdly nonspecific on those two.
