For those that have been to the FOFA before, what do the DDs do? Are they separate from the festival, or can they hang out with their friends all day? If one of their friends just tried the greatest beer ever, could the DD *gasp* have a sip?

They can hang out in the fest with their friends. They get a free food ticket and free non-alcoholic beverages.
They have a special bracelet showing that they are DD. I would not suggest a DD sipping a beer. That would be a crappy reason to get kicked out. HF tends to take things like DD's seriously, but you never know. At the least, ask permission first.

Anyone get their FOFA email yet?

If you would have read the rules carefully, then you'd know emails aren't going out today.

My first year trip up for anniversary week. What should one expect going there at open on Friday the 24th. Is it basically another day at the brewery with some additional vintage onsite offerings (totally fine with that)? Will bottles all be posted like a normal release or will they have some unlisted cellar bottles for purchase? What size crowd can I expect?

It's anyone's guess as to what Hill decides to release. Crowds will increase in size as the week goes on. And history tells us that Infinite Surprises and Unannounced Wonderment could be expected!

A little different each year, with last year’s focus for more limited onsite bottles dedicated to Wednesday and Thursday yet specialty draft throughout the week. They have also had “unlisted cellar”/vintage bottles to go in the bottle shop, which rotated during the day/week as they sold out + some guest offerings as well. The specialty draft options also rotate each day

Would not characterize this as “another day at the brewery,” given the approaching Memorial Day weekend: tourism = large crowd. So, be prepared for a dreadfully long bottle line, as many will be up front deciding on which bottle is which (e.g. asking staff for full descriptions of each bottle)

…of course this could all be a different story come next week –

Do you happen to recall the particular limited onsite bottles they had last year? More for historical curiosity than anything else, since we already have a good guess as to what they are currently planning to put on for next Wednesday (don't have a link to the screenshot of the whiteboard that's been going around, but I'm referring to that)

I picked the wrong day to come to Greensboro.

I don't even want the new bottles. I just want a 6-er of S&S4 and DG.

Some CD vintages/variants, Flora, as well as guest offerings (i.e. 3F kriek), among others to go + Damon, Flora variants, as well as guest offerings (i.e. Hommage, Fou) onsite

…this is from a couple years ago

Got in line at 1 pm, it's 2:15 and I'm still about 12 people away from the door. I'm guessing at least another hour.

I feel your pain, I was there for the last Damon release, it was freezing, and I moved about 10 feet in 2 hours before I finally gave up. I watched people walk out of there with cases upon cases. They really need to separate the normal and special releases.

Nope. I know that line is slow on normal days, I was unsure how it moved with special releases and if they had more registers. Good luck!
