Interesting, makes sense for them to spread their events but spring in Chicago is so hit or miss. Hopefully it won’t be too close to Smells Like A Beer Fest - I don’t think there’s a lot of overlap, but I’d hate for Mikerphone to ruin this too.

 

Half Acre posted a 6/21 event in Darien (at Chuck's Cafe) to their Facebook. I don't even know where Darien is, so this normally wouldn't interest me, but they're tapping Beer Hates Astronauts, so I guess that means I should start freaking out about a BHA release date NOW.

 

Isn't Darien the city where Hop Butcher is brewed? (may even be the city's new slogan "Darien: Where Hop Butcher is brewed")

 

That sounds right, in that I read the word "Darien" and said "I'm pretty sure there's something beer-related there."

 

There is this thing called “google maps”. It’ll show you exactly where this mysterious “Darien” is, and it will even tell you the time and distance to get there from your current location.

 

Yeah, but I'm not trying to go there if said mystery location isn't in the city proper.

Anyway, main point was BHA, guys, stay on target!

 

Yes, it is. I've gone the last 3 years. It isn't overcrowded and you wait in line for beer maybe 5 minutes tops. They are tapping so much shit over that 5 hour time period that there is plenty if different beers to try. It's the best organized beer event I've ever been to and my favorite event in the Chicagoland area. It also isn't filled to the gills with beer bros and the live music is usually pretty awesome, which both for me are positives. It's a very low key event.

 

Chuck's has awesome food, at least the one in Burbank does. Worth the trip for the food alone.

 

GDDC is pretty whack this year.

Now & Then though is fire.

 

Agreed on both counts. GDDC had a really weird herbaceous awkwardness going on, just kind of dirty.

Now and Then was an excellent example of proper lactose usage.

 

Anyone saying Bodem is a “nice 9.99” beer is severely underselling this beer.

 

Surprised at how much I'm enjoying Bodem. I've found it to be slightly undercarbed, but other than that I think it's a home run.

Still no word on BHA?

tying now to get a ticket and Universe seems to be having problems, my order has been "processing" for about half an hour, just spinning saying do not refresh. Universe is a mess.

 

That's odd.

I purchased 4 around 10:55am using a Visa. No problems. Wonder why Universe is giving you issues

 

Last year they lasted up until day of the fest. Most underrated great beerfest in all of the Midwest each year.
