I had one the other day. really liked it a lot. My favorite of their hoppy offerings It has more of a tropical fruit hop profile, but still keeping a nice malt backbone.

I agree with most on here though. I'd buy their beers all day long if the prices came down. They are about twice as expensive as they should be for comparable beers.

I don't agree on the price point. Beers that cost half as much are worth half as much. If that is your price point, drink those beers. If you like MBC, pay the price. It's beer not air or water. If Johnny Walker Blue was $15 I would buy it twice a week. It ain't, I don't.

Meh, the "don't like it, don't buy it" argument shouldn't preclude discussion about the price point. Fact is, I buy a lot less of their beers then I used to specifically because of the price point.

My beer store guy said Maine Beer Company was amazing, especially Lunch. They didn't have Lunch in stock, so I picked up Mean Old Tom...stout aged in vanilla, how can you go wrong?

It was unbelievably mediocre. I couldn't taste one hint of vanilla, to me it was a coffee stout. And an average one at that.

Lunch is supposed to be great, I'll keep my eye out. Tom is nothing special though.

Their price point has not change. Didn't say "don't like it don't buy it". I did say buy what is affordable. This is not a slam, just reality.

Fair enough, perhaps I misunderstood. Still, it's not necessarily a matter of affordability but rather quality. When people say a beer should be priced lower they are not necessarily saying that they can't afford it. Most of the time it's really just about what else is on the shelves.

MOT is my least favorite of all, too thin IMHO. Everything else is an A

Gas prices were this high in 2005. Gas price logic for anything is bullshit unless is rises $2 in six months.

MO is possibly the best tasting pale ale I have ever tried. I do not like the pricetag but I will buy one periodically because it tastes nice.

I feel the same way about all their beers as you did with Tom. Haven't tried MO yet but their price point and hype seems excessive, IMO.

Yes, more for all you guys; enjoy!

I saw some bottles of the Zoe and Peeper and Mo at Market Basket of all places and for $4.99. I Thought for sure the peeper and Zoe must be old and this is why they even have it and for cheaper than I have ever seen it. All were bottled in feb 2012. I hope this store keeps getting some more. I thought the MO was pretty tasty and because it is billed as a Pale Ale instead of an IPA it doesn't seem to fly off the shelves as fast. They can call it a pale ale all day if they want but that shit is still an IPA if you ask me.

That's the right price for Peeper but the others should be a buck more. Somebodies not paying attention, their loss, your gain. Remember, Karma is a real bitch.

What do you mean Karma's a bitch? are you saying I ripped off MB and have some bad Karma coming my way? That place has the best prices on all the beer they carry compared to most liquor stores they just don't usually have a great selection of craft and I was surprised to even see Maine Beer company products there. Also I have never seen the peeper for less than $5.99 anwhere

In Maine, Peeper is 4.99 all other MBC is 5.99. I'm not saying that you ripped anybody off but just that you might want to ask them how they can sell it so cheap. SRP is generally 18%. You do the math. No big deal.

clearly you've never been to a market basket. it's a low-end grocery store. they always have a $10.99 craft 12pk, whether it's harpoon, sierra, sam, smutty, etc. pretty confident line pricing their MBC beers isn't going to take down an entire chain. you do the math...

Didn't say it was gonna take down the chain. Said somebody might wanna question the price. I'm pretty sure if they were charging 9.99 this forum would light up like a Christmas tree. Several years back Hannaford was charging 9.99 for a 750 of Curieux. I know the wholesale price was north of 12 bucks. I told the manager of the store. He said he didn't care. I continued to buy it for 9.99 with a clear conscience. Just saying

this makes you sound not only dumb but contradictory. the intent of your initial post was to chastise the guy for not alerting the store that Mo was under-priced with your "karma is a real bitch" comment. just saying...

Peeper is $5 at MBC brewery and all others are $6 even.
