Fruity IPAs are getting a little out of control. Mango, guava, orange. Thumbs down, but I am not the one rolling in the profits from these styles.

Just got back from a new brewery that featured a Hefe IPA. What?!?

I don't know of any style i'd like to see go away, but there are some I don't understand, i.e. milkshakes.

One style I do not plan to revisit is Brett IPA. Just did not do it for me

Lactose anything. I guess there isn’t a style called lactose but I didn’t want to just be the 732 person to say milkshake or frooted “Berliner’s”

    So yeah, milkshakes

I’m not one for doing away with styles, I do wish I’d see more interesting styles though like Roggenbier’s, Faro’s, Gruit’s, Sahti’s, and Kvass’. That’s my opinion... probably the only one too haha!

Fruit beers are great entry-level beers for new beer enthusiasta who are just getting into craft beers, and these folks will add to the demand for all of this beer that is lounging on store shelves and the excess brewery capacity that might exist. We need to keep the 'fruitys' around. Just don't drink them if you don't like them.

I don't need any style to go away, but I like many classic styles, and I worry that if they continue to be left out of the conversation because of our "give me something new and different" mentality," stores will stop stocking them and brewers will stop brewing them. The inaccessibility of many classic styles is one of the reasons why I homebrew.

Fruit beers serve a purpose; from lighter summer and spring beers to show off seasonal produce to entertaining experiment beers. Add a variety of fruit and you can sell the same beer several times over!

C’mon, Newcastle (or the brand’s owners over the last decade+) already ruined it. Lagunitas may have failed to revive it, but it was DOA before Lagunitas entered the picture.

I can drink a Westbrook Key Lime Gose, but their regular Gose for my palate is undrinkable. I like each part separate but combined I feel like I’m drinking sour mixed with seawater, it’s just way over the top. After two small sips I’m done.

I'm over IPAs altogether. especially dry hoppeds, the obsession with over hopping to mimic hits like Heady Topper, Sip of Sunshine and the like have had their day. It's time for the Sour Age to begin!

Rauchbiers aged in pickle barrels! I wish someone would brew it so I could hate it.

That's a shame. Never had westbrooks but for about as long as I can remember folks have been saying it has been over the top sour. That's what I like about Sixpoint's just plain old regular jammer. The sour is subtle it vibes with the salt and you can even pick up some malt on a 4% abv beer.

Sixpoints is probably more of a traditional German style which is ironic or something.

IMO there’s nothing subtle about Westbrook Gose, but there’s guys who love it. So there you go. Tastes like Warheads mixed with tons of sea salt, if there’s malt in there it’s lost in the process.

I love goses! The salt adds a deep flavour that I really enjoy.
