I was initially bummed to Cavalerios, but after setting a draft pour, I was pretty happy. They actually did the wine barrel right this time. It’s adds a nice fruity flavor as opposed to straight sugar as in years past.

Line was about 40? people when we got here at 10:45. We got inside in about 15-20 minutes after they opened the doors. Looking outside right now(11:34) it looks like about 30-40 people are mulling about, most waiting for tables to open up.

All the shirtless bro's flaunting the nice weather angered the Dark Lord and brought biblical storms down. Next year be more careful.

Also, Fundamental Theorem? Is having a 20% abv beer on draft a good idea at DLD?

I had one sip and shared the rest. Someone earlier noted it was a stout with a shot of bourbon and I definitely agree with that assessment.

Well, my whole party brought too much so we started to open a ton of stuff before going to the entrance. Then eventually we just said fuck it and went to try and get in. So I both opened a ton AND walked in over the limit.

We had a very cool lady checking us in. Didn't even mind my buddy's 3L magnum of reboog.

A few general questions if anyone knows the answers... just curious.

Does anybody know that the total ticketed attendance usually is?

Do volunteers or employees get bottles/variants?

We were speaking to some people from other breweries that had red tags/wristbands that said they were able to get in to the festival but didn’t get them any bottles.

Do you have to pay for all pours at the DLD festival? Never been and interested to understand

Was an early fest attendee but from my experience it was the smoothest DLD yet. Much better than my experience last year even. And the beautiful weather in the first half of the day was a great bonus. I do enjoy weather on the warmer side so ymmv. Had left before the rains of castamere came down so cannot comment on the 2nd half of the day but no complaints from me for my experience. Well done, FFF.

Lot of good info on the DLD wiki.

I don't believe volunteers do. I saw somewhere a voucher for a free food item or two free draft pours possibly. And then entry to the fest, of course. They are doing the dark lord's work though so I thanked one or two of them.

True, we also get access to the “FOF (Friends of Floyds)” tent which was a god send in that heat and sun yesterday.

I had it made online cause I’m a huge dork.

Dude the MT line was terrible...absolutely ridiculous. Lots of cutters, and tapping an MT whale twice in a row at the same tent made it worse. I didn't find it to be worth it, but at least it killed the time during the storm lead up, and the chanting to tap that shit made for some entertainment while they also decided not to screw the people that were standing for so long.

Some weren't very prepared for that storm though...past experience dictates: always bring a rain coat to DLD! This was way better than '15 and '16. I could stand outside without horizontal freezing rain, but my pants didn't even get wet and I wasn't shivering at all. I'll take it! No clue why that was so much "worse" than 2015 or 2016 that everything had to shut down, but it certainly made the share tents...interesting. Lots of near nudity and ill-advised chugging.

And damn that chopped cheese and chimichanga were great, plus all that ice cream and jerky, fuck yeah!

I almost regret getting Loadstar and Rrari right at 9AM, because they set the bar high as some of the best things I had all day. Almost.

IIRC volunteers used to be able to purchase bottles of reg DL. That may have changed with the “all in” tickets.

Wow, that was a good time from start to finish. Pulled 'Rrari for my variant. Will post more in full later, but boy, the Dark Lord sure makes a fella sleepy.

Went at 1 and Chemtrail and Rari were kicked. Got one of the last of the Handjees. After that it was 15 and 19 regular on for an hour but I left before 15 kicked

I was chatting with a volunteer who was working her 6th straight DLD. She said last year they were offered the ability to buy a variant which was a first, although she hasn’t heard if that was an option this year yet.

I wonder how much fff charged them for a variant. Volunteering may be a better deal than buying a ticket.
