They are trying to compete with the local release 3 new IPAS a week local brewery market.

That is why you see a new IPA from them every week or two.

    Maybe?

But to a point, I would argue you can influence the consumer's purchases by providing them with something novel, something different than what everyone else is doing.

When Boston Lager debuted, everyone wasn't brewing an amber lager. When Sierra Nevada Pale Ale debuted, everyone wasn't brewing hoppy beer. When The Alchemist brewed Heady Topper, everyone wasn't brewing a hazy IPA. When Tree House/Trillium debuted their IPAs, everyone said those beers weren't finished, and were too "chunky".

In today's sea of New England IPAs, I would think adding yet ANOTHER New England IPA to the shelf won't separate you from the competition. I think now more than ever, a brewery needs to carefully select which styles it wants to brew, and increase the variety of styles.

I'm definitely seeing this with my local breweries.

This is all too real. There are 6 breweries in Memphis, TN, and I think they range from dogshit to mediocre at the top end. I travel quite frequently though, and most other similarly sized cities (and even most smaller ones) have much better local offerings.

When I visited Memphis a couple of years ago I enjoyed some Tennessee brewed beers from Blackberry Farm and Wiseacre. I take it you are not a fan of Wiseacre Tiny Bomb?

    Cheers!

Blackberry Farms is available in Memphis, but is brewed on the other side of the state. I like their stuff. Wiseacre was the one I was referring to as mediocre above, lol. A couple of solid beers (I like Tiny Bomb, Gotta Get up to Get Down, Adjective Animal) but more often than not their beers are misses. They did do a hazy IPA collaboration with Perennial as a limited release a few months ago that was quite good.
