So much recent turnover! But I guess Kernville isn’t the easiest place to get people to move to.

Since the OC/LA area Restaurants, Bars and Pubs is closed I will post this here.
This latest batch of Citra on tap at BT’s is not the same. The recent can release I think is better than this Citra on tap. Maybe it’s CitraTea DIPA. What’s going on here?

It could be. Dave wasn’t working today. He is very good at cleaning them lines. It ain’t the same when Dave’s working the taps. Oh well.

Time to bump one of my “still” favorite breweries. Been listening to the GABF awards festival going on today. I think these guys have picked up a total of 5 medals in today’s awards ceremony. Not sure what this brew team has been doing the last few years. But either their beers are being recognized by GABF or they paid them off. Pretty impressive for a small brewery up in the sticks of Kernville.
    Congratulations KRBC.

Been debating making the drive up there. Never been. Would probably stay for one night. Any decent hiking? Rafting not really my thing.

Made many a road trips to Kernville and area. Mostly camping and backpacking back in the day. Back when Citra DIPA was gold I made the trip every year. Sometimes camping and others next door at the motels. Haven’t been back in 2+ years. Thinking about making the trip in November. Have to squeeze it in between our Korea, Tucson and Hilo trips in November. It is a drive to and from. But it’s worth it for me. Yes there are a lot of places I haven’t been to yet here in SoCal. And there’s a lot I’ve been too. Their standard offerings haven’t been up to par lately but just hanging out at the backyard pub and restaurant is still a treat. I’d probably go to KRBC before I’d go to ABC.

Not sure what qualifies as decent hiking, but the PCT and Domelands Wilderness aren't far.

The last time I went up to KRBC was with you and our wives, that was a great weekend but also was the beginning of the decline of Citra.

    Cheers

I would love to see and taste this brewery return to being the west coast juggernaut it once was and the rumblings I'm hearing have all led me to believe that just could be happening.

This could be amazing if the product in said cans resembles what it used to taste like. It seems things are changing for the better up in Kernville so I'm cautiously optimistic it translates into this batch of Citra.

    Cheers,

Eric Giddens commented in his thread about the current popularity of the Citra hop. It has become so popular that KRBC has been pushed down the line for the hops used in the original Citra. We noticed how it changed in recent years. I find the new batch very tasty if not exactly like the first few batches.

I briefly spoke with Eric at the California Beer Summit Festival. I told him how I felt about the last several batches of Citra DIPA. :confused:He told me that they were very excited about the latest Citra Hops coming out. So maybe there is hope for this release. I was planning to drive up the release weekend but timing was off as it was in between our Korea and Hilo trip. If it’s still available on the 24th I may try and make the 4hr road trip. Otherwise fingers crossed some cases will make it to OC/LA area this week or next. I did pick up a 4pk of Think Tank 21. Will open tonight here in Pahao. Aloha.
