Question - bitter pops has “BA Buckley” on tap (16oz for $10). I asked the person if it was just regular Buckley, and she said “no, I promise you it is barrel aged.”

So.... is that a weird one-off keg of BA Buckley not called Kentuckley? Or is it mismarked Buckley or Kentuckley?

16 oz pours of a 14% ABV beer, smart.

Technically it's a 16 oz mini-pitcher, the pours are 5 oz. So if you drink the whole pitcher, that's on you

Around 4:30 pm the girls working the register said the only thing they had left was Kentuckley @ 2pp.

Are you implying the limit was increased back up later in the day, by 3 more bottles!?!? What was it increased up to?

    That is frustrating!

Pardon my hot take, but if you know the number of bottles of each variant you have for sale and the number of people in line, I think numbering off in some way may have also been helpful. If folks got there at noon and found out they were #600, and it was made clear to them that their allotment would be significantly reduced, they may have decided to leave as opposed to waiting 4 hours.

I definitely understand the frustration of waiting in line only to find out a few people in front of you that the allotment was cut in half. On the other hand, I think I pretty clearly said in this thread, you better get there prior to open....

Full disclosure, I'm a member and really appreciate the early entry, plus all the other benefits that the membership offers. I have no complaints about how that was executed - though I did get one less Reserve than I ordered and one extra Kentuckley

You’re equating constructive criticism with complaining. The verb “owes” is pretty loaded here too and doesn’t match the discourse taking place here (Facebook comments being their own circle of hell apparently)

Ooo, also the stickers on the pour cups were an awesome idea. Having been to dark lord day and plenty of witchs hat events, like fury for a feast, I'm surprised I've never seen that before.

But when you have 10+ variants on draft that all look exactly the same (and even sometimes taste similar) that was really handy.

Rev does this too for their Deep Woods releases and it's great.

I also call Shenanigan’s as this was advertised quite deliberately as “Bark Lord Day” knowing damn well right there’d be a larger turnout piggybacking off of Dark Lord Day. Capitalizing on that larger amount of folks in the Chicagoland area and switching to a smaller amount of 500ml seems pretty obvious on this one. All of that about an unexpected turnout is just lip service and stock marketing excuses.

Hasn’t it been Bark Lord Day for a few years? Even when it didn’t coincide with DLD.

I think that many breweries are piggy backing off of other ones. TG and Pulpit have done it. Forager announced a release the day before KBBS. I like that I'm able to hit a couple release in a weekend if it all works out.

I agree. It’s not totally unlike New Glarus doing their release on Great Taste weekend

I have zero issue with it and it was awesome being able to score bottled at both events back to back days. I hope they do it again. My comment was more in reference to Transients lackluster response to the complaints of their event.

Lines come with big bottle releases. Just how it goes.

Agree with the lines come with big bottle releases. I know it's not up to Transient but I bet people wouldn't complain as much if they were allowed to openly bottle share.

Once people were inside and getting bottles it was easy to tell the workers were busting their asses and couldn't go any faster. There were so many options it took time to ring everyone up.

The draft poor tent was another story. I've never seen slower workers but that wasn't really that big of an issue since we're talking about 10min vs 4 hrs.

If I could offer two improvement for your next event it would be:

1 - Hand out the cards and wristbands at a quicker pace. We waited in line for over 2 hours before getting a wristband or card. People in line were stressed out about this.

2 - Numbered cards (which you mentioned in your FB posts). This would let people who know they're going to be waiting for 2-3 hours sit in their cars or go get food and come back and find their place in line. I think you would get way less complaints, especially on a day like we had with the rain on and off.

Strong feedback and insight. I received an allocation card when I first arrived in line that was slashed in half by the time I got to the kiosk. That was by far my biggest issue was being told by an employee that allocations are still what's available on this card. Only to wait almost three hours for none of what I was told.

Super impressed by Mellow AF. I had taken a break from transient haze for a while. If this beer is any indication of how they are approaching hazy beer at the moment, then bravo. I had one can and immediately went back to the store for another purchase. One of the best hazy beers I’ve had this year.
