The beers are quite decent. Their Vice series are very tasty. Just their membership was definitely an after thought that was haphazardly put together and isn't really managed at all.

The beer I had was the Pastrification of Puerto Rico. Looks like I tried it at Woodshop last year.

I hesitate to support a business with these kinds of practices though.

    It's been 2 1/2 weeks. I'm guessing nothing new?

I guessing this will have to be my consolation prize for striking out on the MT Ultra lottery.

    I hope they're good.

Picked up my beers on Monday and I must say the taster was really good. Still concerned about the verbiage on the bottles saying store at 40 degrees (fridge temp.) I do this for coffee beers anyway so the coffee flavor doesn't fade, but I'd prefer to keep the Four Roses bottle in my 55 degree fridge. Do they have concerns about these holding over time above fridge temp?

Send them an email and ask...?

If it says it on the bottle, it's probably a recommendation. If they told you verbally, then I might be worried.

I wonder if they have separate facilities for clean and wild beer. If not they will definitely have infections occur at some point. Bruery learned this the hard way and now have separate locations to produce their beers.

The "bonus bottle" is also for sale at Holiday Wine Cellar.

And they still have occasional infection problems, even with separate facilities a mile apart.

Makes sense since they got the barrel from them. We’re getting one bottle for free but you can buy 3 from HWC. It will probably be sold out before I get my bottle to try.

Well, at least we now have a little more information about the "bonus" beer. Looks like its called "Wild Barrel Takes a "Holiday", " it's in 500ml bottle, and it's 12.5% ABV. Also has a 4.47 rating on Untappd from 27 check-ins, and I guess was tapped at their anniversary party.

It would be nice if they just sent out some basic details about these beers. Is putting the name of the beer (if they've got one), bottle size, and ABV in the email too much to ask? Oh, and it would also be great if they stated how much time the beer spent in the barrel...

I picked up my beers this past weekend. Had the mostra one on tap, was rather delicious. Coffee and vanilla not overpowering in either way. Tasted like slight coffee chocolate. No barrel heat. They had put on an old ale in 12yr templeton rye barrels as well. I didn't try this one due to time constraints.

I opened my one bottle (I split the membership) this past tuesday with some friends. Immediately upon pouring a giant nose of peppers overwhelmed us. I was concerned since the bottle went from the tasting room, to my car, then to my house fridge in the matter of 30ish minutes. Tasted it and all worries went away. While the scent of peppers existed, there was no flavor detected. The dark chocolate coffee with a hint of barrel was there. It was pretty delicious once you got over the hurdle of the initial aroma.

Nice, that’s good to hear. Thanks for the review. I’m going to have all my bottles and swag mailed up here soon.

I mean it comes down to good practices. There are breweries with clean and wild barrels 10 feet from each other and they don't have infection issues.

It's amazing. We've gotten delicious, barrel-aged stouts each month. The communication has been frequent and they've bent over backwards to make everyone happy.

    Just kidding.
