    A bright sunny day with little wind. Supposed to be in the upper 80s, with 90s on the horizon. Time to finish up my "winter" beers.

    Deep, dark body; fairly thick and frothy tan head. Rich roasted and charred grain aroma; coffee; mocha. Excellent dark beer flavor; roasted grains with a coffee bitterness; vanilla sweetness; milk chocolate. Heavy body; smooth and oily yet feeling somewhat thin; coffee warmth and bite; dry notes but has an overriding sweetness to the body throughout.

    This is a nicely made coffee stout. The smoothness can be attributed to the oats (I'm sure). There is a well-rounded depth and complexity to the flavor. A nice find...

    I wasn't planning on beer this morning, but I'm dealing with a new twist with ongoing identity theft and credit card fraud issues. Apparently someone ordered an overnight replacement credit card (because of "damage") by accessing the issuer's automated system. The really odd thing is that it's being shipped to my physical address.

    My thought is that this is a trial run, and the next thing is to claim they never got the card (or it was stolen on delivery), the perp will probably claim they're now on the road somewhere, and they'll request a second card to be FedEx'd overnight to some other location. Sneaky little bastards.

    Anyway, the card number in question has been cancelled, the issuer's fraud folks have been alerted, and I'm now in the process of updating all my online financial accounts with new logon IDs and passwords (along with other security measures). And so it goes...

    I needed a good beer this morning...
