I agree with you on old beers. I also hate seeing that. Sadly I am not sure how to resolve it. I am grateful for all the options I have, if breweries/distro could figure out a happy medium I am all in.

The solution is simple in that the craft brewing industry could adopt the practices of AB - remove the old beer when it reaches it's best by date (e.g., 110 days for Bud/Bud Light). Needless to say but there will be a cost associated with this practice (a cost that AB and their associated Wholesale Distributors presently are willing to pay). Or just maintain the status quo of having old beer on shelves that some unsuspecting consumers will (eventually) pay for them.

    Cheers!

Well, found some Phase Shift and was very excited to try it. Turned down fresh Jai Alai and Head Hunter for two 6-packs of PS. It is not BAY. Should have got some Jai Alai. Hopefully, Born Yesterday will still be great.

Oops...meant Phase Change not Phase Shift.

Having another Phase Change now...it is a good beer...but Born Yesterday is my favorite from Lagunitas...and my memory thinks Born Again Yesterday was better than this. But I will easily drink my 2 six packs.

Exactly, too many choices slow the turns. The shelves in my beer place are slammed with beers from brewers I’ve never heard of, at $12 a whack. Most are ... solid. Hate that word, but they are. Meanwhile FW Luponic 12 is about 6 weeks old and fabulous. This batch will still be in this store two months from now and it will be good, but not fabulous. FW hoppy beers are really top notch, and they die here where it’s easily better than 95% of the beers on the shelf. Only giving that 5% to Pernicious and Burial beers.

Phase change is great. Awesome really. However it's a hard departure from BY and BAY imo. Phase change tastes like a really great citrusy, fruity American IPA.

Boyn yesterday taste like a juicy American IPA with an awesome fresh grassyness to it from the wet hops.

Phase change doesn't register as anything wet hop related to me. But it is damn good. Especially for the price.

I would like this 10x if I could.

My experience is becoming more and more finding dated/old known solid/great beers or fresher local not as good options. About the lone exception to that is Revision stuff, but that's likely due to my proximity to Reno/Sparks. Lots of choices sure, but more often than not its becoming selecting the lesser of evils or going somewhere to get a crowler/growler fill of something I can taste before purchase.

Am I the only one who loves BY but hates BAY?

I've given it a shot a few times and came to the same conclusion.

Wouldn't go so far as hate for BAY but it's definitely best used as a pleasant reminder of the glory of wet hop ale season

Not even close, I like it quite a bit. But, to each his own. There are many beers I am not fond of, I just tend to not talk about them.

I like'm cause their easy-drinking but usually feel that 90+% of Lagunitas taste 90+% the same!
