Still haven't cracked that 2007 expedition but damnnnnn am I excited to. I would say that my favorites are expedition and stone irs. I haven't had all that many others but those two made enough of an impression that I picked up a 4 pack of about 10 different stouts that I am now laying down for future consumption and comparison.

Vintage Old Crustacean is fantastic. Cracked open a '98 a few months ago. WOW! 13 years and still absolutely delicious.

I'll second the Bigfoot and JW Lees Harvest suggestions and add that Allagash Curieux is great with a couple of years on it.

This, I may just cry when I finish my last Pannepot 2007.

Also, Westy 12 is best at around 2 years old.

2 year old Stone Double Bastard, yummmmmmmmmmy. 1-2 year old Founders Imperial and KBS. 5 year old Pannepot might be the best aged beer I have ever had (2006 bottle in 2011).

Had a winter '02 bottle at Christmas this year - it was remarkable!

I am just cutting my teeth on the drinking of aged beers, but Palo Santo Marron is one I have had with 3 years on it and it was phenomenal. I am also with the Pannepot crowd having had bottles from 06 recently I was blown away.

I wondered about the Abyss. I had 2 2010s and drank 1 over Christmas time which was amazing. However, I have the 2nd one and I'm wondering how long I should sit on it...thoughts?

Double Bastard is a surprising one to me...what are the specific changes?

To me it just loses all of the hops and tastes like a great deep caramel Old Ale at 2 years but not too sweet or boozy. The batch this year seemed less hoppy than past years though so not sure what the differences will be. I still will age it because I just love this beer at 2-3 years. I had some good tasting notes on the old forum but I don't think I could find them in a reasonable amount of time.

I had a 2008 this past december next to a 08 bcbs, an 09 (infected) abyss, a jubel, and a bourbon aged dogfather, the 08 abyss was fantastic, beat out all the other beers by far, and I suspect it barley edges out the 06 wws my buddy opened few months ago. I intend to keep all mine (have 3 2010 and 3 2011) until atleast 2014. It will be worth the wait imo.

Have you had their bourbon barrel stout? Just got 4 bottles sent to me, thought it was delicious. Have you aged it? Hate to see bourbon fade in those beers so im hesitant to age

We had a year-old bottle & fresh bottle of the Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Stout side-by-side a couple weeks back & I preferred the aged bottle. That said, the bourbon is mellower in the current batch, so I'm not positive that it's going to age as well as last year's. As soon as a wild hair erupts, we'll break out a '10 as well & try all three together.
