Definitely worth the trip. The location is spectacular, beers are great and people are friendly. Glad to see fox farm distributed into NYC

Rove is everything I want in a farmhouse pale ale.

Awesome place. I only have two small complaints about the place and none about the beer.

    1) The place is loud inside. Not like music loud, like people talking reverberating all over the place. I actually notice this at a lot of breweries. It is like they need stuff on the walls to dampen the noise but then it ruins the whole "barn" aesthetic. Tough call and a very nit picky gripe from me.

    2) I wish they didn't have the exit traffic running back through the main outdoor gathering space especially since the area across that exit road it also a nice gathering area. Last time I was there I saw two different kids in less than ideal situations regarding this. Again I am nit picking and they were building a new barrel house that was also supposed to create more outdoor space. Unfortunately, that too was across the exit road.

Such an amazing place though and awesome beer.

I should have asked today but why the name change from Verdant to Virid?

Apparently some brewery in the UK, is named Verdant Brewing Co. They had not voiced any concern over Fox Farm’s similarly named IPA. Regardless, out of respect, FF changed the name. It is not related to Hudson Valley’s Verdant Sour IPA. Verdant and Virid are synonymous anyway.

Had a small pour of Xenia at a bottle share today, it is really good. If I was closer, I would be driving right over to stock up.

Someday in the near future, I'll make the trip out. It's awesome to see them brew a wide range of different styles; and impressive that so many of them come out really good.

I missed out on The Cottage but I’m feeling The Cabin > Gather > Quiet Life. Obviously different styles but just grouping their lagers together. Thoughts?

^^ Agree...but with a caveat: Would add Quiet Night, probably my favorite CT beer.

Only had few cans of Quiet Night so will have to re-evaluate next release. Same with Tines.

I've said this before -- not on here -- but Fox Farm is the one brewery in New England that is on my summertime "I need to visit" list. I'm trying to map out a time to go, but it's highly unlikely I make it before July/August.

What's everyone's take on the smoked helles? Fohn? I have zero interest in hop-forward stuff (even if you swear it's the best you've ever had). The only beer I've had is Avalonia. Super eager to visit this place.

Which beers are made more often? Is the smoked helles made often? Meaning, if I miss out on this batch am I screwed forever?

Its a place I have wanted to visit for a while too. I am also hoping for this summer. I grew up in CT and parents still live there, so it seems like they (parents) will be getting a visit!

My first and only visit happened to be when they had cans of the smoked helles, it is flawless IMO. I'm very sensitive to smoke in lagers, I guess cause the lighter body. It compliments the beers so well, I've only had Schlenkerla Helles a few times but I would say I'd have to pick Fox Farm. Cheers, hope you get to enjoy it this summer.

Try to plan it around an announced lager, which may carry-forward into the subsequent week(s). Granted they are not as frequent as the pale ales/IPA, but don’t think that’s cause for a “screwed forever” scenario: FF seems, or at least tries, to incorporate one with each canned release. Of course, there was a 5+ month gap with Gather, so believe there is a devoted approach to lagering as that last batch was a true work of art (i.e. still reminiscing over that magnificence)

Regardless, eager for the new Kellerbier, and that Saturday lager line-up is particularly alluring

@jonphisher bit of a derail, but get a chance to try Threes Foudre-Fermented Smoked Helles? Actually saving a Cabin to put alongside the new batch: Short Fuse

I have not @M-Fox24 we get Vliet down here but haven't see any of their other lagers. If I see it, it will be purchased for sure. If its anything like cabin it's gotta be good.

If you are visiting, they always have one of their lagers on tap. They actually have a special kind of tap that they only use for lagers. In term of getting cans, the availability is not super consistent, but id say they can a lager it least monthly. All of their lagers are great imo so you cant go wrong. Very excited for the new Franconian Kellerbier this weekend. If I had to choose, my favorite is probably the classic Gather or Czech style Quiet Life

Kellerbier is delicious. Very rich, beyond a Marzen, in my opinion. Complex - bready and chewy; dominate floral hops yet trace of spiciness; very dry yet retains some bitterness. Took me about six satisfying gulps to finish.

    From Instagram:

We’ve got two new ones going on this week (starting Wednesday) to go along with a solid supply of Double Burst still remaining.

Sway is our unique take on an American Lager. Thus far, all of our lager beers have been (to some degree) in various European traditions. With Sway, we brought things home, starting with Connecticut-grown pilsner malt from @thrallfamilymalt. We were thrilled to hear our friends @valleymalt had small-batch malted corn available - a rare find compared to the usual flaked or raw alternatives. To accent, we gave it a light-handed dry-hop of American Palisade and Amarillo. The result is just what we had hoped for going into this holiday week - a dry, drinkable lager with a touch of corn sweetness and a mellow floral/grapefruit hop compliment.

Layers is our first new IPA in some time and is built to feature Strata - the most exciting new hop we’ve encountered in years. Much like the Roam showcase of this hop, there’s no shortage of peach and cannabis qualities along with some berry and passionfruit aromatics. Soft and expressive, we’re thrilled to add Layers to our regular lineup.

I thought Roam: Strata was excellent and unique. Excited for both of these beers.
