Anyone have any idea how likely it is to track down some of the Matryoshka series bottles? I live in the midwest but will be visiting the Oregon coast next month and hoping to track some down. It looks like this is a winter release so it may not be possible this late. Assuming they are not available retail anymore, are these worth trading something of value for? Thanks all.

I think Beer o'Clock posted some pictures on their Instagram last week about having bottles. Not sure if they had been hording them or what. It's possible that Fort George still has some. Give them a call when you come out and see what they have in stock.

Worth trading? That's kind of up to your personal preferences. It's a lot easier to get in March, so that'd be your best time to trade for it. It's a good imperial stout, I like it. The variants were good this year too.

Yeah, I think you can still find bottles around town here in PDX. Just yesterday I grabbed a bottle of the coconut variant to share with a friend at Arch Bridge. IMHO, the beer is not in the same league with Fremont's BA stouts, but it's pretty good, and I appreciate the fact the sweetness doesn't hit you over the head.

If you do decide you want to trade for them, I would certainly expect a $4$ exchange. You really shouldn't have to pay a premium in trade goods to obtain a couple of bottles.

I appreciate the input. What's the retail value per bottle regular vs. the variants?

The variants are $20 a pop (in a 500 ML format). I haven't bought the regular version in a bit (I happen to think the regular version is superior to any of the variants), but I want to say it's in the $15 or $16 range. However, I'm not positive about that, and don't want to give you in accurate information (so hopefully someone else can chime in with better knowledge than I have).

I want to say the base version typically runs $12.

if memory serves (a big IF), i thought that most bottles were in the $13-$15 range.

    Also, widely available.

Thanks all. Looking forward to trying. Any other BA stouts I should keep an eye out for?

Tin Bucket often times has some Fremont BA stuff on tap, and it's become pretty easy to find BA stouts from Modern Times around town (on tap and bottles). There's still a lot of CBS and KBS languishing on the shelves. Rusty Nail should be out and may still be available at places like Imperial and Tin Bucket.

A lot of places maintain active/current online taplists, so it's pretty easy to check around town to see what's available.

FYI: Belmont had 12 cases of CBS bottles on sale for $20 each when I was there on Saturday ($6 off - selling at a loss?!). Might find Ex Novo Kill the Sun bottles around, too. I feel like I've seen those recently. Also Alesong Rhino Suit, Breakside Oligarch are also excellent ones I've seen recently.
