Some people will take this as sacrilege, but one of my biggest and, in my opinion, best pieces of advice with regard to drinking at bars and taprooms is: Don't finish a beer if you're not enjoying it or if you are but think you're pushing it in terms of quantity of consumption. Not finishing is healthier in the form of limiting calories and alcohol intake, and it lessens the risks of impaired driving. You already should have a good sense of the beer after the first few ounces (often the first few sips), and those later ounces often are doing you more harm than good. Don't punish your body and put people at risk based on succumbing to the sunk cost fallacy (and over a few bucks at that) or out of some overblown worry about offending the bartender or a silly sense of obligation to down the whole beer.

You can still drink those locally brewed beers: growlers, crowlers, and canned beers.

    Cheers!

As much as I loathe flights, I do love single 4-5oz pours at breweries for this exact reason. Just a tiny pour or two to nurse if you know you’re gonna be driving yourself and/or loved ones across town afterward.

I’ve never done flights, but I most certainly would to a brewery new to me with interesting beers. It would mostly depend on the brewery, but one of the local breweries does 4-5 oz pours for a few bucks. Can’t beat it, a bit of variety, stays cold.

My mentality is sample one in public microbrewery, pub or craft beer house and then take home some of my favorites or the one I sampled if I like it as well.
Good way of getting around to various places, but consumption beyond one beer is best left home, where I only have to navigate myself to the refrigerator or the bathroom,
Love to consume beer, but not at the expense of safety. My own or others.
    Cheers all!

Yeah, this is pretty much how I drink now, unless there's a beer that I know I want above all others - maybe then I will get a full pour and nurse it for a while, but that's about it.
