I am seeing this all over the ISO and FT fourm and it is making my head spin on what people are asking for it or offering for it , I belive i seen that it went for $9 at the release and if thats the case why are we seeing so many crazy ISO like, FT GBS, ISO Rare:grimacing: (just an example but you get the idea) Am i missing something about this beer or is it just me, please help me understand this madness.

Good question...I thought my offer was fair but apprently I was way off, lol. Haven't heard a thing. I believe, but very well could be wrong, that GBS will be released with limited distribution this week. Maybe that will help the "value" come down.

I'm not one to say whats "fair" or not but it does seem like people are asking a bit much. Lol, they can keep it for that matter. I'm sure there will eventually be some rational traders that get a hold of some bottles or perhaps many of those ISO:FT's aren't getting done and eventually they'll lower their asking price.

Who knows, I'm done caring so much about it (hyped up beers in general). If I get to trade for a few bottles that would be great otherwise I have plenty of other tasty brews I can drink and I'll never know the difference.

As a Richmonder I will try and help clear this up. First off, it's a fantastic beer, and IMO drinking better fresh this year than last years batch. Second, this beer is ONLY available in the greater Richmond metro area, so it has very limited distribution. As a result it has become "Richmond's beer" so to speak. Also, the price is $9 at the brewery, but once it hits distro it's actually more expensive, and this beer should be priced at $15 given its a 750ml and 9.2% abv. In any case, most of mine have gone to regular trading partners, another I sent three bottles for Black Note. Do I think some of the 1:1 are ridiculous? Sure, but I'm down to trade multiples for a good beer $4$, and so are many others. I don't believe GBS should go for Rare, but locals aren't going to get it done either. In this case, price really doesn't matter, and the BA ratings speak for themselves.

I'm in absolutely no way trying to argue with you. I just thought $4$ CC Imperial Sweet Stout (cognac), freetail la muerta (1200 bottle release with a decent rating), JK Boxers Revenge, etc would have been fair but I guess I was off? Oh well, again, I'm not really disappointed I still have those delicious beers I offered up for trade.

BTW, do you happen to know the total bottle count?

It should just be trading for similar local good, highly acclaimed limited release beer. Some of the ISO threads have been ridiculous. I mean people can try for whatever they want, I just hope a few profiteers don't give a bad rep to my fellow Virginians.

    Side note:

    FT: Gingerbread Stout ISO: Blåbær

This should trade for similar limited release locals close to $4$. I won't put much faith in the initial local reviews, anyone remember Hellshire I and the early reviews? Not saying it is not a good beer because I don't know, but I am not trading a BT for one.

This isn't the first time the beer has been made. I don't have any up for trade but I can tell you honestly it is a damn good beer but I would never trade a BT for it either.

Luckily, I was correct. Thanks to an unnamed BA, I was offered GBS for what I thought was a very reasonable and fair trade

As Shilt said, I'm surprised you got no immediate nibbles (for the beer, that is). Glad you got an offer.

I'm a relatively new addition to VA, so this is my first time drinking GBS. Initially, when I heard it is a milk stout, albeit imperial, I heard a resounding "meh" go off in my head. However, I drank one on Sat night...it's flat-out outstanding. Very pleasantly surprised.
