I'm allergic to my own sweat, kind of like your Embiid avatar.

You're right, I guess oysters just sounds by far the least appealing to me out of all those you named

Maybe they weren't "making plenty of money" I will give you that.

What I meant was per bottle/serving, $20 used to get you 4x12oz bottles
Now $20 gets you ~maybe~ 2 bottles (which are 16.9oz but not 12oz). So yes, "by volume" not the correct verbiage, but per serving (since who's saving the last 4.9oz of the bottle?) it has more than doubled in most cases. Used to get you 4 bottles now gets you less than 2.

Costco is the only place that had it for $9.99 and it is long gone there- most places I see are $11.99+. By that math, just for fun, $20 used to get you 48oz of BCBS, and now at most stores gets you only 16.9oz and ~$8 leftover.

I'm not sure what you were doing with your ml/$ math, but based on $12/16.9, it's actually pretty close to double:
    $12/16.9 = $0.71/oz
    $20/48 = $0.42/oz

I'm not sure what your definition of close is but that is 69% increase, so not that close to the 100% increase required to have doubled

So you are basing the OLD pricing on MSRP, the new pricing on inflated pricing.
And then somehow basing it on SERVINGS instead of cost per ounce? This doesn't really make sense.
BTW, a serving of 14% BBA Imperial Stout is not 12 oz- it's probably closer to 6 or 8oz.
See, if I used your logic, 1 500ml bottle is 2 servings, but a 355ml bottle is 1 serving plus some extra.

Thank you for doing the math- a 69% increase on a 12-16.9oz serving of beer seems pretty close to double, to me. Maybe not to you. If Gas was $3 and the next day it was $5, that... is not a great example

On a per bottle basis, the price doubled. 2 12oz bottles was $10 and now 1 16.9oz bottle is $10, that also lends itself to my statement that the price doubled. I will use a stopper on a 750 but not a 12oz (16.9 still up for debate!).

@Dan_K semantics aside, for the same price you'd rather get 1x 16.9oz or 2x 12oz bottle?

He is using very generous numbers on new format regular bcbs. You could get it for a little more then $12 here of you bought the whole case. A single bottle would cost you $15.

I could get a 6 pack of the old format bottles for $22.

    What's the math on that??

    22/48 oz = 45.8 c/oz
    15/16.9 oz = 88.75 c/oz

much closer to double there. Around here, last year (first time I ever saw it at all in these parts) I got it for under 12$ out the door. Thought it was a pretty good deal considering the quality

I didn’t get my refund yet, still waiting. I called and they said they didn’t get my paper work. I had copies of everything but was told that didn’t matter. Too many people took advantage of the barley wine refund.

Willoughby seems to have done fine with selling all their Peanut Butter Coffee Porter and Nutsmasher.

I can appreciate why folks would be mad about such a price increase, but as someone who had no access to BCBS until last year and paid 12$ for a 16.9 oz bottle I gotta say it seemed like a really reasonable price. It would've been cooler at 10$, and cooler yet at 20$ for a 4-pack, but none of those were ever even options for me and I still wasn't mad and will definitely keep an eye out this year and maybe even buy 2 at 12$ a bottle

Try Costco if you have one around there and if CA law allows them to sell beer. Ours and others had regular BCBS for $8.89, and variants for $2 or $3 less than other places.

cool I'll definitely take a look there this fall. I actually have only ever seen it and this very odd place called 'liquor depot' that seems to specialize in macro cases, cheap liquor, and mixers/party snacks. But also has an amazing liquor selection (including, i've been told, rare japanese whiskeys that are fully 3 figures lower priced than at other retailers) as well as a massive walk in full of craft options, much of it far out of code, including wonderful imports and extremely uncommon craft options from the greater northwest.
