It will be exclusive to Total Wine in some markets and released on Dec 12 by those stores. $84.99 for the 6 pack + glass.

Really, I don't think that's an awful price, but I'm kinda over the hype with this beer. I'm not that into quads anyways, and I'm just as happy getting a Rochefort or something more available anyways. Still, I know a bunch of you guys are stoked about this, so I thought I'd give everyone a heads up.

Been hearing about these Westy packs for so long I am starting to lose interest. Who am I kidding, if I walk in TW and see it for MSRP I am jumping on it like a fat kid on cake.

I don't understand why people use this argument. Supply, demand, and convenience all direct the market.

Sure it's cheaper in Belgium, but that doesn't do you any good if you live in the states. Imported foods and clothing that are more expensive in the US than abroad are still readily bought by American consumers... why would beer be any different?

Finally, the voice of economic reason spreads enlightenment amongst the simple-minded BA folk.

How might we repay this most noble gesture?

I heard a rumor that PA was not going to be getting any...can anyone confirm or rather squash this rumor?

I had a chance to try a bottle of Westy XII and it tasted just like Rochefort 10.

Yeah, you guys, are right I wouldn't bother even going up the Total Wine on Dec. 12. It would be a total waste of money, I encourage everyone who sees this thread to essentially just ignore it.

I was once told that this is correct because of potential issues where Shangy's believes that they have the rights since they previously sold Westy at one time. Therefore, so the story goes that it would be simply best to avoid PA because of possible conflict over license. This might be completely false but this is what I was told once.

So if it is 31 in Belg how do you propose getting it over here? What do you think the shipping is for a Sixer over here? At the price the bricks are being offered, you will never find it cheaper than that.

Thanks. That's along the lines of what I heard also.

I'll believe it when I see it. They have been saying it was coming out in the US since June or maybe even late spring!

I had 3 of those packs at one point. Not like they haven't come to the states yet.

I have had Westy XII three times in the last year. (once from a buddy who brought it back directly from Belgium). It was a disappointment ever time.

I don't get the hype over this beer....yet:slight_smile:

Clearly, supply and demand will regulate the market, though that was not my point, you could probably sell them for $120. There is a cost of importing, and the middle men have to make their dollar, though even with that in mind $85 seems a bit high, $60ish would probably be about the same profit margin as in Belgium.
My point was more that I find $85 a bit much, having bought it for $31 before. If you've never had it and/or want to give it as a gift it is not bad. Having had the wonderful beer multiple times, I find $85 excessive.

btw the cost of shipping 2 six packs here would be about $57, which would mean $60/brick. or shipping 4 would cost $88, so $53/brick. An importer/distributor would clearly get better rates than me though:slight_smile:

    cheers:slight_smile:
