Great job, man- thanks for taking the time for doing this!

Also, shout-out to @gardenstatepkwy for making it happen.

I'm just sipping on another of my VA cans, and it's still plenty a'ight with me!

Sounds like Stone is brewing based on region? Interesting but smart. This is probably why we are getting folks like me hating on the beer and others out East saying man your nuts its tasty and not that bitter. Thanks for side by side, eye opener on this one.
    Cheers

The ones I drank were very one dimensional and bitter.

that's the weirdest thing to me, the east coast version seems like a beer that would be geared to the west coast and vice versa. Although honestly the west coast can just felt half assed compared to the east coast. I enjoyed both of them well enough and thought the price (5$ for a stove pipe in my neighborhood) was very fair but the east coast version was a much better beer to me
also seems like my earlier image didn't post so I'm gonna try again

Very nice, there’s no way to do that scientifically, and experienced impressions are always interesting to read. My first one was on tap, and that beer was decidedly fruity, kind of had a kiss of Muscadine grape if I remember right. Our supply here has been very sparse for whatever reason so it’s been a while. So perhaps the time hasn’t allowed me to experience the growth and change.

My CA can is scheduled to arrived tomorrow. I’ll most likely let it cool overnight and do the side by side Sunday. After reading @stevepat review I’m very intrigued. Will report back when the goods are in.

Check out my post #22 my CA can's pour sure looks like your VA cans pour, your CA beer is way hazier and looks totally different. This is so weird, I would think the CA cans would all look similar? Sure likes like something is off with their batches.

that is weird, I drank one of my previous two CA cans out of a glass and it looked the same as the one i poured today(though bought at a different store), the other I drank from the can so I can't comment on appearance. But ya you would expect that all of the CA beers would look the same. How many batches did they really brew?

Not sure but it sure explains why some of us are experiencing this one differently. Seems like each batch is a little different or something. I know for one thing the cans I had were not sweet or malty just really harsh and bitter without much more.

I mean there is definitely batch variance that I've noted between the different dates but I sort of assumed, given the size of their brewing equipment, that each run of enjoy by was no more than 2 batches

I am really curious to see what @gardenstatepkwy thinks on the side by side this Sunday and if those cans look and taste same.

same here. I was honestly amazed when I poured them, I would never have guessed that there would be this much difference. It makes me more suspicious than ever of stone's viability.

I am really surprised on this one, I never would have thought they would have any variation but it appears they do.

But the haze? I kid. Thanks to you two for coordinating the exchange. Interesting stuff. Looking forward to the other comparison.

Well, one thing that could be done is to drink the beers blind. First conduct a triangle taste test (in opaque cups) and then do a blind side-by-side taste test with the reveal at the end. You need a partner (for me my wife) to do this.

    Cheers!

I’ll try this with my wife tomorrow. She used to be an beer drinker 4-5 years ago but hasn't consumed much since. I will say when she did drink beer one of her favorites was the Enjoy By series. I'll have her to fill the glasses without me knowing which is which (opaque and clear) and also get her thoughts on each. I'll try to take a few photos as well so I can show the difference.

Thing is you would expect Stone QC to catch this, perhaps they did and mums the word.

I had a couple of cans last night .....

Observations I had whilst enjoying the enjoyable Enjoy By (pun trifecta intended):

-- when I think of a beautiful IPA in my melon, this is the beer I see. Hazy golden color that allows silhouettes to be seen, underneath a substantial, sudsy head. It is literally begging me to nose plant in the head and take a big whiff.

-- pine and slightly dank citrus notes on the nose - and booze. A lotta booze. I don't remember that in past Enjoy By iterations, but it's been a couple of years since I've had it, so I could definitely be unremembering the booze (yes, I made up a word).

-- my beer fridge is in the garage, and it's kept relatively cold (38 - 40 deg F). I really enjoy a beer that opens up as it warms, and this beer defines that. At first sip, the booze is prevalent, but not obtrusively so, just a subtle warming not. As it warms, the pine steps to the front, but the debutante of this beer cotillion is the dank citrus component that presents itself with a broad palate of flavors that intensify as the beer warms. By the bottom of the glass, I was fully inverting it over my open gullet to get every last drop. A very delicious example of a West Coast-style DIPA, IMHO.

I agree wholeheartedly with my beer nerd friend @nc41, I think this iteration of Enjoy By is a beer that needs to settle a bit and knock off some of its "green" edges before it reaches its full flavor potential, if that makes sense. I had a couple on Tuesday, and the 3 days that beer sat, it also evolved, again IMHO.

I have the last 2 cans that I'll sit on until 7/3/19. Can't wait to see if it changes further.

Funny thing here is that at Resident Culture in Charlotte they has multiple tanks set up literally right from the tanks, they really specialize in NEIPAS that imo are terrific beers. So what I’m wondering is how a big beer like Enjoy By might do under the same conditions, hours old right from the tank? Green beer is a relatively new phenomenon for me and perhaps a true WCIPA reacts differently to time than say your typical NEIPA. Both beers that were rough and a few weeks straightened them out were both WCIPAS. Is greenish NEIPAS a thing?
