The most likely answer is "maybe"

Officially limited to 2 pours, but iirc I think I've seen some folks say they've received more than 2 as they don't use any physical method of keeping track - unless perhaps the POS system notifies the bartenders when they swipe your card how many beers you've ordered already but I've never heard anyone mention anything like that, and it wouldn't apply to cash transactions

Had anyone golfed at Mountain View Golf Course in Greensboro? Thinking about hitting it up before I head there next Wednesday (7/3) and wondering if it's legit. Thanks.

Depends on where you're staying, but Parker Pie is a good option somewhat nearby. If you're staying in Waterbury, you can't go wrong with Blackback & Pro Pig.

There's plenty of great hiking & kayaking options in the area, if you're that type of person.

I'd characterize this as a "soft limit". I've definitely been there with friends and shared multiple bottles off the menu without any issue. I've also seen employees deny patrons who had 2 drinks. I'd recommend utilizing your 2-pours on the bottle list rather than the taps (unless they have a special keg on) and simply get growler fills of the hops you were thinking of trying.

I agree with the answers above. I have seen both enforcement and no enforcement. Depends on crowd size, server and the individual requesting the pours.
They don't want anyone getting drunk, loud, disruptive etc. If you are polite and don't go overboard you should be able to have a great time trying a decent amount of what they offer.
They will give you tastes of anything on tap for free.
I also agree that the bottle list is usually your best option for sharing. If you are alone it is usually possible to find a person or two to split the larger (or high ABV) options with you.\
    Have fun!

Quick question all, what is the typical cost for drafts and onsite bottles? Going to visit with the in-laws next week.

I paid $15 for a pour of Memoria and Riwaka back in June.

I think shelf/regular bottles are bumped up $5 or so from the retail price to enjoy onsite. More exclusive/rare bottles come at a premium. I shared a Flora Cuvée on that same trip and it was $90-$100.

Newbie back with another question. First off, super excited about Madness and Civilization #12, and Double Galaxy.

Secondly, having read about how special vintage bottles are sometimes released for on-site consumption. Is this advertised on the website when it happens? Or do they just release it "silently" at the brewery? If so, is it posted at the brewery or do you have to know to look/ask for it? Want to be sure I'm prepared if they decide to get festive for July 4.

They will be on menu at brewery or on little cards sitting on holders at bar. Not typically listed on website.

Planning on making my first trip up on July 4th. My wife and I are passing by on the way from boston to montreal, so i dont wont really have the time to spend a few hours there. (also gonna swing by the alchemist)

What are the lines usually like? Im happy to get there before opening, will they let me line up before the doors open? is getting there at 1130 early enough?

From what i can tell, I should go straight to the tap room to get a number for drafts and growlers? and then there is a separate area I go to buy cans and merch?

thanks so much for your help, cant wait to visit

For those experienced, do you think m&c will last until Friday?

I anticipate that the week of the 4th will be busy so there could be an uptick in lines/wait times.

Yes, there's almost always a line up before open, but they do tend to open up early. Set time is 12PM, but usually open by 11:30.

There will be two lines, two areas. One line for cans/bottles/merch is by the hanging wooden "Retail" sign. The other line will be by the deck for the taproom. If you're looking for growlers, there is a ticket machine, like a deli, once you walk into that area that you should grab. Then you can get in line for draft pours.

    Good luck and enjoy!

I think historically the holiday is reasonably busy. Most likely not as busy as a big release day.
Tap room number is for growlers. Only need if you’re buying growlers. I’d have one person get in retail line and other grab a beer on tap or onsite bottle. Then can have a beer in retail line (if long wait).
You are allowed to line up early.

At 1 bottle per person I would think/hope so, but who knows what the batch size is. Given the blend and limit, I would expect it to be fairly sought after. Plus, the possibility of an uptick in holiday crowds could play a role in it selling a tad faster than normal.

If I'm just one person, should I grab my growler ticket first and then get in the retail line to make sure I get my bottles/cans squared away before I get a draft? Or do I need to finish up in retail before I get my enter the taproom/get a growler ticket?

You can grab ticket first, but my choice would be depending on which line is longest and what I wanted most.
If onsite bottle was my top priority I would get that first (can grab growler ticket as enter Taproom).
Big release will have long retail line and sometimes it’s best to get in that line ASAP. If you are spending the day there, you should have plenty of time to get everything you want.

Man I’ve gotta tell you all how nice it is to see how kind and helpful everyone on here is. Many of my own questions are being asked and answered as 4 of us prepare to make our first trip there in October. Can’t freaking wait. It’s really a big deal to trek out there for many of us and we wanna be prepared so thank you all for taking the time to help us others out that don’t fully understand the process/setup at HF.

Just don’t look at the Tree House/Trillium threads!
Everyone in New England is super nice and helpful. Feel free to message me with any other questions.

My sentiment exactly. As someone who spends (too much) time in the Treehouse and Trillium threads due to my Boston locale, this thread is a breath of fresh air. Thanks again everyone.

Agreed, thank you everyone for being polite and answering questions. It will be our second trip up to HF so understandably, I'm trying to see if I want to juggle my trip around this release and this was helpful.
