It wasn't super murky, very light haze. Not overly juicy, thankfully. Slightly dry finish compared to a typical west coast hazy. Just how I like 'em. AMAZING nose, too!

I do remember hearing that too, but I thought it was because Porter just wasn't interested in the style.

Nothing wrong with brewing hazy IPAs. Just one more style in their lineup. The diversity of styles they brew and the fact that they do so many of them well, is their strength and what makes them stand out.

Now, if they walked away from every other style and started brewing 25 different Hazys only, that would truly be a sad day.

In on-the-board news, Little Sparrow is a fantastic sour beer. I'm usually skeptical of cranberry sour beers, but this is really nicely done. The gin barrel works

So if they tossed in a little rye and brewed it with some Nelson Sauvin and Southern Passion it would remind us of another beloved beer from days long ago ?

    Cheers,

A friend of mine brought some of last year's Infinite Wishes this past Thursday...g'lord, I love the fact that it's STILL readily available. That is a damn good beer, lots of barrel, lots of beer, heavy ABV, great mouthfeel.

I was in Friday night for my bday and had several pours of ‘19 IW and had a taster tonight when I went to pick up a bottle of BOE. This latest batch of IW is phenomenal. So happy that this beer is basically “under the radar” when it comes to hype and I can walk in months after release and get a pour or a bottle to enjoy.
But I’m a complete and total Smog fan boy so I may be biased.

A friend of mine was buying a bottle or two for herself (really) sporadically until like...NOVEMBER.

Then I told her it was a once a year release, she freaked. Until I told her the new bottle is like around the corner.

I'm not sure which year I prefer (though I don't have a great and in-line vertical) I think last year's was better somehow. Enough that we bought a bottle from Smog to keep another since we ran out.

Summer of Lagers at Smog and a Beachwood collaboration?
    I really love this place.

Haven't been by the taproom in forever and decided to stop by this past weekend.

I left with an armful of Bourbon OE.

But are you a fan of American of English-style barleywines? Because Bourbon OE very much excels at being an English-style barleywine.

I'm good with both. I dunno. As I said, maybe it's just preconceptions I have of the beer from past experiences.

So according to their social media, Hoptango has been reformulated and they are calling it their "first, true hazy". Releasing 6/22 for Beer Week. Been quite a while since I had that beer.

Smog City taking over Zymurgy tap room. Let's see what they do with it. With Glendora opening up and now this new Torrance location, this makes 4 Smog tap rooms. I heard rumors of a Culver City location opening up, but maybe that got canned.

Do all these Smog expansions make anyone else nervous? I'm super stoked they are able to do it, but also concerned with other expanding breweries having to downsize after getting too big for their britches. I wish nothing but the absolute best for these folks, but I've been nervous for them ever since they went with bottles over cans.

Smog will do just fine with new additions. Unlike another SD brewery, Smog bought out/taking over the Zymergy location. They didn’t have to start from scratch ground up. They should be able to obtain whatever permits they need and open up on time. Win, win.
