I usually shake the box vigorously before walking in. To me cans are louder than bottles.

Also, lava lamps are a no-go. Don't say you're shipping lava lamps.

I buy, sell and trade vintage Pepsi bottles. Works like a charm.

Blis Gourmet is in Grand Rapids... When I used to get asked what I was shipping (which I don't any more since I schedule package pickups from my house) I would say I was shipping their maple syrup and soy sauce to my chef friends across the country.

Little late on this but I just had my package get all the way to new york and they inspected it there and flagged it to be returned to me. Hopefully I get it back and it turns out to be a 15 dollar mistake only...

Done using fedex. It was cans all bubble wrapped and in ziplock bags, so I doubt I had any leaks. I think it really just depends on where you ship it. Chicagoland doesn't seem to be strict about this stuff, but you get these warriors at certain locations that think they are heroes for stopping people from shipping fucking beer.

Fedex will pickup at your house dudes, it so easy. I just leave the box out front and if there are more than a couple of boxes I'll leave a snack or a drink for the guy. He loves me!

I've shipped hundreds of boxes, most of them 6 or 12 shippers and never noisemakers, those just attract attention.

I recently shipped two boxes. ... One to Missouri and one to Michigan.

    Thankfully zero issues.

The return boxes ... One was by FedEx also. Again no issues.

It's unfortunately a case by case basis with FedEx and really every career.

I've mentioned this a few times in the thread and not sure why more people don't utilize this service. I've been scheduling pickups from my house or office for several years now and wouldn't ship any other way at this point.

How much extra is it to shedule pickup at your house?

I use FedEx Office, print my own labels and haven’t had any issues but not having to drive anywhere to drop off boxes is obviously a lot more convenient

Last week when I shipped fedex home pick up was 3 dollars extra. I always use my own box. Might be cheaper if you had a standard shipper box from fedex. I just find it easier then dropping off based on hours alone. You can schedule when the pick it up too if you want. I never do because the drivers have a schedule to keep and by making them pick up your box at 10AM can throw off their schedule a lot

They don’t offer this in rural locations, otherwise I may have used. I don’t have any actual FedEx locations within an hour of me. One shipping copy shop that offers UPS, FedEx, DHL about 30 mins.

Say what? I've been shipping lava lamps for years now, through UPS. The girl working the counter generating the label has come to recognize me. Never had any problem shipping "lava lamps" in 12-bottle shippers other than one bottle got broken in Chicago but still was delivered.

This was per FedEx guy, or, it could have been USPS. Either way it had something to do with the chemicals inside an actual lava lamp

Followup. The lava lamps made before 1970 used carbon tetrachloride as one of the chemicals. Carbon tet was declared toxic and therefore couldn't be shipped without meeting some more labeling and packing standards. After 1970, the manufacturer in China allegedly quit using carbon tet and switched to a proprietary mixture. So I'll play dumb(er) and only ship post-1970 lava lamps until I get called on it, maybe mixing in some home-made organic apple cider.

So funny, I'm actually known as the "Hot Sauce Guy" at my local UPS. I always tell them I'm shipping gourmet hot sauces. Had to fill some bottles with other hot sauces and make fake labels because they kept asking me to bring them in some samples. Took them the hottest stuff I could find that way they wouldn't ask to buy some lol.
