Of course SN, as well as all other breweries and or businesses are chasing the money and making business decisions on what is going to sell and drive profit. They don’t kill beers that are selling. I shop at Trader Joe’s grocery store and i’ll Find something that I love and buy all the time then it’s discontinued. It doesn’t make sense to me because I love it! Doesn’t everyone else? They don’t discontinue that product because it’s flying off the shelf.

I don’t expect a company to cater to my personal opinion, likes and dislikes. However, I can still complain and make alternative purchases. I am simply stating that SN is brewing more ipas and less of specific beers that I personally thought set SN apart from other breweries. For me those beers actually create customer loyalty and drive more purchases. But yeah at the end of the day the company is making business decision based on what makes sense for them and not me.

FWIW I am in a similar boat. I used to purchase a lot of SN Variety Packs in the recent past to obtain the 'traditional' beers they would produce on a seasonal/rotating basis. Needless to say I no longer do that due to those beers no longer being available.

Personally I am presently conflicted in my feelings about Sierra Nevada. In the past I appreciated the fact that they would produce 'traditional' beers (albeit on a limited release basis). Now their priorities appear to catering to the 'new' craft beer drinkers and I am no longer a priority to them. Add in the fact that many (most) of their year-round brands are too old at my local beer retailers and the opportunity to purchase their beers is even more diminished. I still have some level of love for Sierra Nevada due to the long history I had with this brewery but I m uncertain what the future holds here. Can they achieve enough sales to the 'new' craft beer consumers while losing sales from customers such as myself and still have a sustained net growth? I can perhaps see a 'blip' of increased sales for 2019 (and 2020) but if enough historical customers become disenfranchised in the process does this mean they will have a good year in 2020/2021?

    Cheers!

Years ago I distinctly remember drinking a Pumking in July when the heat index was in the 100sF. Of course I still enjoyed it but it did feel just a little wrong. :stuck_out_tongue:

    I totally agree.

    Agreed.

I messaged Sourthern Tier, and they said they have not shipped Pumking this year yet, so I guess old stock?

This. I''d check the bottles or the box for a date. Most ppl like to age Pumking, but YMMV.

I'm with y'all that miss the maltier beers available in the SN variety pack. I'm fortunate enough to be about 40 miles from the Mills River distillery where right now they have a rauchbier and altbier on tap, styles that I love.

But as has been mentioned, we all know IPA's rule the beer landscape right now and business is business. Hopefully the pendulum will start swinging back to the maltier beers and they will more readily available by SN and others.

I had the Harpoon Flannel Friday last year. It was ok, but I'm still on the fence about it. I have never had GL Oktoberfest, so I may need to try it. I believe the nearest distributor to me is Kentucky, which works out as we have hunting property there I will be frequenting come August.

Agreed. Worst damn season of the year. Our heat index right now is 105 and the humidity is at 94. I want to like summer, I just can't. I'm also frequently in the Middle East, so there just is no break from it.

See, I'm of the opinion it's never too early for Oktoberfest beer. To me it's just a darker beer the same as Truck Stop Honey or Southern Pecan we have here year round. So, I can drink it any time whether it's 30 degrees or 100. It doesn't have the same festive feel that a pumpkin beer has. But, pumpkin beer in July is way too early. That flavor (even a good one like Southern Tier) is just too heavy a flavor for July in Alabama.

    Was or is?

And how does that help me in America's Armpit/Asshole? (i.e "Distribute that shit, goddammit!")

EDIT: or better yet, end the BA infighting and bring back Glissade!

Sierra Nevada has a distillery at the Mill River site now? I don't remember mention of it when I visited this winter. Unless it is another company's distillery with SN beers on tap? (That seems pretty unusual).

Oh, I love it here, but, the gloom do get tiresome. When summer arrives, I don't want anything crushing my jam.

It’s 100 plus heat index’s here, so fall beers are two months away.

It's just down the road from the Asheville airport. It's a beautiful place, lot's of native stone work, an outdoor stage with music almost nightly during the Summer. A beautiful place and of course more importantly, great beers on tap, many that they don't sell retail.
