I've had this one as well and it was very good and not overly sweet considering the dates. Whats funny is that I have a few Jordanian friends who've never even heard of it.

Sounds like you already have a pretty accurate idea.

Does Selinsgrove Pennsylvania count as "obscure"?

Põhjala is hardly an "up and coming" brewery, they've been around since 2011 and have firmly established themselves as one of Europe's best maker of barrel-aged beers since then, not to mention that their regular beers are great as well and they do some really fantastic and interesting herb/spice beers. If you ever see their BBA Imperial Gruit, make sure to grab it.

It's a classic to some people, but Lion Stout from Sri Lanka is delicious.

Sinebrychoff Porter from Finland is similarly super good.

    1. THB or Three Horses Beer pilsner, from Madagascar
    2. As mentioned by @GreesyFizeek - I also like Lion Stout from Sri Lanka.
    3. Castle Milk Stout from South Africa, is also enjoyable.

On a trip to the island of Santorini a few years back I met the brewer and got a quick tour of the then newer brewery and have ordered Crazy Donkey whenever I see it on the menu in Greek restaurants here in the States. I was told then that the Greeks had not yet embraced bitter hopped beer, but he was going to work on that...my observation was that Heineken was the beer of choice in the bars/restaurants of Athens. Crazy Donkey is good stuff and best Greek brewed IPA!

Pohala has distro in Florida and has set up at Hunahpu Days at least the last two years. A tad pricey, but their BA Stouts and Porters are worthy!

I've heard of every nation/territory/locale mentioned in the thread so far, so none can be categorized as truly "obscure".
But as far as breweries go, there are a few that are new to me. I looked on BeerMenus for Carakale and there are actually 2-3 shops I go to pretty regularly that carry Black Camel Spider and a couple other of their beers! Now I'll have to go looking for them next time I go shopping.

In 2017 my wife and I toured a few countries in Europe. On our way to Montenegro, while waiting for the bus, we stopped in Dubrovnik, Croatia for the afternoon and wandered into a beer/wine bar. I was pleasantly surprised after ordering a GOA "NEIPA" from DBC (dubrovnic brewing company).

While in Tokyo I stopped by the famous “Popeye” bar that has something near a hundred beers on tap. I remember having delicious porters and stouts but don’t recall the names at the moment. I believe one brewery had “swan” in the title. In my experience, the Tokyo beer scene mirrored the US scene at the time.

Costa Rica, Volcano Brewing has some very nice pale ales. Belize has Belikin which I thought was pretty good.
