    Hi fellow BA's,
Have any of you ever brewed brewed this style using only hops shots for your whirlpool and dry hopping additions? If so, what were your results? What would you change? Thanks for the help!

Hopshots are pretty much solely for bitterness. They do make variety specific Co2 extract for the pros but again it’s usually not used even in the whirlpool.

You could never dry hop with it cause it’s not that soluble at even elevated fermentation temps.

agree with @wasatchback , for a concentrated hop form, look at cryo and lupuln2 hop products for reduced vegetative matter and save the hop shots for boil.

Dave, do you have a lot of experience in using Cryo hops? At least year's HomebrewCon during a presentation about hops Ted Hausotter stated that using cryo hops will yield a beer stability issue - the hop flavor/aroma will fade more quickly compared to using 'regular' hops. Do you have any input in this matter?

    Cheers!

my most recent was dry hopping with 1oz cryo Cascade in a blond ale and boy did that come across stronger than expected. Was on tap for maybe 3-4 weeks and didn't notice much fade. I wonder what time period they're talking about, and if the added processing has something to do with it. Maybe 3-4 weeks you may not notice it, but like a regional brewery, whose beers could sit in a distributor for 2 months before going to a beer store, whether then the fade is more pronounced.

Ted Hausotter made no mention of a specific duration.

    Cheers!
