Was a member last year, didn’t renew this year. Last years members bottle was at the last release at end of Membership. Membrillos Only, barrel aged fruited sour. Actually planning to open my bottle this weekend in vacation in MI

Why does this have to be the weekend before I go to 450?! Hopefully limits are decent

Anyone heading up for the BA release this weekend?

The details are shockingly sparse. I want to go but I got pretty burned on Bark Lord that I am weary of showing up on release day.

Maybe it won't be as bad, who knows

What are the details, exactly? Fingers crossed bottles last until late in the afternoon, when I'll be on my way back home from Pittsburgh and close enough to stop over in Bridgman, but that's almost certainly a pipe dream.

    From 7/18 on FB:
We got a couple of good boys coming your way on Sunday, the 28th! Read below and prepare yourself.

Due to overwhelming demand over the last 4 or so years, we have finally done the possible... Made a barrel aged version of Bark Lord!!!!

This beer started its life almost 2 years ago as part of our Buckley Reserve series, (spending 6 months in our whiskey Foeder before being transferred to bourbon barrels for over a year). It was then given the royal Bark Lord treatment of vanilla, maple syrup, tugboat coffee, and cinnamon. It is everything... Buckley would be proud.

    But wait, there’s more!

Smuckley on the other hand was a new entry this year, and turned out to be the most popular draft only variant during the release, so of course we had to make up a batch and package it! This version went even further on the peanut butter, and upped the raspberry significantly. We took out the coffee, to not compete with the other flavors, for what ended up tasting like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (if you added a healthy dose of chocolate to the mix).

Information about price, limit, etc. to follow closer to the release.

How early should a person arrive for Sunday's release? I read their releases are a bit unorganized.

They haven't released any details whatsoever besides price as of now, so, expect a circus

I'm probably going to go right around 5PM and hope they don't cut the line if there is some left or hope they last til Wednesday and then go after work

    Some details members got:

    Noon on Sunday

Limits: will be decided the morning of the release, and posted on Facebook along with a draft menu. We expect the starting limit on Barkness to be around 2-4 and Smuckley to be around 4-6, but that will depend entirely on turnout. There is no early entrance for members

We will also have a few cases of bottles from Buckley day at open (including many of the barrel aged variants). We will likely limit these to 1 or 2 TOTAL bottles per person, so it will probably only last for the first 50-100 people.

Gotta love when breweries incentivize lining up early

Love it when beer nerds reward this brewery behavior by showing up early.

I was debating on this but another 3 hour wait in line does not sound appealing.

It’s just stupid not to set limits a week or a month in advance.
Setting limits day of - how long have you been doing this - you know there’s going to be a shit ton of demand. . Just set the damn limits.

What time do beer nerds line up for these releases? Asking for a friend who rather leave early with full allotment.

If your beer nerd friend isn't in line already, they're too late.

Depends if you want the breakfast handout/guaranteed allotment. Usually for an 11am release they are handing out muffins, sandwiches and coffee around 6am. The line is typically big enough by then that they run out of sandwiches. They base their allotment decision on how many sandwiches they handed out.

I am torn on this post.

At first I am with you. Set a limit, let everyone know what it is, and then make it clear that when it is gone, it’s gone, fuck how many people lined up.

But that’s harsh. If you’re going to do that, you should say “200 allotments,” or whatever.

If they “really care,” one might say, “well, everyone in line at time X - whether that is open or sometime before open - should get an allotment. Set it so that everyone who put in the effort gets one!” That makes sense. You can’t do that until you see the turnout though.

You can also try to reward those who are there at open by setting allotments high enough that everyone in line gets at least x, and some will get a few more if they set allotments high (believing that n

Nothing is perfect. If they don’t allow looping (which I still think is straight up silly), then it’s a tough choice. Everyone will be pissed if allotment is low and it lasts forever and no double dipping on same day. Others will be pissed if they missed out.

If beer nerds didn’t line up so far in advance, this would be less of an issue. Unfortunately, it’s the problem we have created for ourselves.
