I haven't looked inside mine, but it's listed on the site (and on the barrel itself) as a #5 char.

fwiw, rye produces the best head-related results for me, but obviously it's not as neutral as the barley or wheat.

Added blood orange puree to a hefe @ high krausen today. Will be back-sweetening in the keg with 12 oz orange concentrate for an upcoming Brewfest. Thinking about calling it Trumpface.

Brewing a beer to try out Oslo kveik from bootleg. 8lb Vienna 2lb Munich, 1oz chocolate for color. 1 Oz cluster at 60. Hoping it makes a boring Vienna lagerish beer to satisfy inlaws coming in from arizona.

Brewed up the Oktoberfest today... Just finished cleaning up, all went well today. OG of 1.051 (expected 1.049). Pitched yeast at 46-47F and currently in my chamber at 48F. Will pull the FFT sample tomorrow evening.

This completes my trio of lagers. Pils and Rauchbier are both in lagering and this is the final one to be brewed. Next up, a red ale of sorts which I have never done before. Should be a fun one! That is in about 3-4 weeks or so. Pipeline is loaded up.

Bottled my hefeweizen today, 6 days after brewing it. Very promising flavour.

Bottled a Belgian Triple IPA today, an attempt at a Chouffe Houblon clone
Seemed to get a little too bitter after I dry hoped. Hope it works out,
but I guess it goes down anyway

Unlike @Brew_Betty , I plan to brew an IPA next weekend with 2 cheater hops that I surprisingly haven't thrown into a beer yet, but have always wanted to.

Brewing 11 gal of Idaho7/Simcoe IPA. Mostly 2-row, some munich and a touch of C20.

Will be fermented with Omega's Tropical IPA strain. Without causing a thread jack, has anyone used this yeast before and how is it? Description says it '"can also be used to produce effervescence when bottle-conditioning". Makes me want to keg half of this batch and bottle the other half just to see what this 'effervescence' is that they're referring to...

    Cheers all

Their Tropical IPA yeast is just wlp644 or Imperial Citrus. It’s diastaticus so I would assume by effervescence they mean it will over attenuate and you’ll end up with higher carbonation than you were hoping for. I find it odd that they would promote that necessarily.???

Thanks! I also reached out to Omega about this, and that's pretty much what they said as well. A 'very lively' bottle conditioned beer, which makes me want to remember to under-prime at bottling. But yea I'm not sure why they would promote this, it was in the description on Northern Brewer's site but not on Omega's.

Good to know this is a substitute for 644, as I've been wanting to try the Trois for a while. I used Imperial's A24 dry hop, and although it's not the full Citrus, I really enjoyed it

Rebuilt my homebrewery over the last 2 or so weeks and brewed for the first time in a little over 3 years on Sunday. Went with an English Bitter using Pearl Malt and a small amount of English Dark Crystal and hopped solely with EKG. Fermenting away with some Wyeast 1469.

Thanks @VikeMan! I had to download the new Brewcipher as well, my last version was something like 3.1 or 3.2. So many great improvements, thanks for keeping that great spreadsheet going!

Brewing up a GF NEIPA with Citra & Ekuanot. Using a different base malt (it's labeled a"Vienna", but that is not accurate). Yeast is M36.

Looking forward to it, as I really loved my last brew with Ekuanot.

    Brewing another GF IPA.

I'm really trying to find my go-to yeast & grain bill. I've been experimenting with a ton of different malts, but now it's time to start to nail things down a bit.

    Pale Millet
    Buckwheat
    Biscuit Rice
    Crystal Rice
    Oats
    Galaxy & Citra
