Taking a trip to the Finger Lakes this coming Sunday and Monday. Staying near Canandaigua, so we're definitely going to Other Half and Mortalis. Any other breweries in that vicinity that I should stop at for sure?

Also, if anyone knows of a bottle shop near there that is decent, definitely interested in that as well. I would happily take suggestions for food, cheese, coffee and things like that as well.

    Thanks and cheers!!!

Other breweries you SHOULD stop at:
    Iron Tug (Greece)
Fifth Frame (City - also make their own coffee)
    Rising Storm (Avon)

    Bottle Shops:
    One Stop (Greece)
    AJ's (Henrietta)
    Beers of the World (Henrietta)
    FLX Provisions (Geneva)

Mortalis only drops cans/crowlers on Thursday and Sunday, so if you're not in line either of those days you'll only be able to do pours.

If you're going out to Mortalis, go to Rising Storm too. It's right down the road.

In Canandaigua, nothing is a must-hit beer wise. I like Young Lion a lot, but as much for gorgeous location as the beers themselves. Twisted Rail has a similarly gorgeous location and a couple tasty options. You can skip Naked Dove/Peacemaker/Three Huskies and not miss much. No beer shops in town save a drive-thru place w/ mostly macros, but the Wegmans in town has one of the best beer selections you'll ever find in a grocery store. There is also a beer bar with a killer tap selection right next to Peacemaker, buzz or hive something. Something bee related.

While you're at Wegmans, get a sub. A Danny's Favorite, specifically. Get their chocolate chip cookies. Get some pizza bialys. Always stellar produce there, too. Get pizza from Pizano's while you're in town. They'll also have all the cheeses you could ever want there.

For coffee, the Dalai Java is very solid. Mac's up on Main St. makes a good sandwich and Charlie's is a good spot for relatively cheap burgers/dogs/fish fry-type eats. Forget the name but there's a wine bar right on Main with some good food too. Grab some ice cream at Abbott's.

Any other questions, let me know -- Canandaigua is my favorite place on Earth and I've been spending summers there my whole life.

Thanks for the info! How early would I need to be in Mortalis line on Sunday, and are their beers worth it? I've never had anything from them, but have heard good things. Usually have to be in line for OH too? Also, how much better will shops in Henrietta be selection wise compared to Wegmans?

Thanks man! We actually have 2 Wegmans locations here in Erie. Definitely a great grocery store! I'm sure being in NY, the Wegs up that way will have a different selection, so I'll definitely check it out. How far is it from Canandaigua?

Oh that's right I forgot you MFers in PA have Wegmans while we languish in Albany without one.

And the Wegmans is IN Canandaigua. Like, right in the middle of everything at the top of the lake. From there you could walk easily to Young Lion, Twisted Rail and everything on the shore and it's like a half-mile to the downtown business district with a bunch of other bars and restaurants.

It's a very, very easy town to get around in.

Hope you discovered Young Lion Brewing along the lake front in Canadaigua while there.
