They will only have ipas and maybe a stout. Zero fruited stuff.

That's what I figured. I'm a little shocked that they don't have any listing, anywhere, of what's available on draft or in cans.

I think within a few days of release all the beer will be gone, and they do all their releases in huge batches, so they probably very rarely have cans available to go. Again, I've never been so I'm just going of based on what I hear in trade groups and stuff.

I took my brother to 450 North a couple weeks ago for pizza and pints. He's getting into beer more and more and really dug the Slushy's. He's wanting to go to this Friday's release. I last went back in May and arrived around 8:30am. I was able to grab a 4 pack of each without any worries of a sellout. Fast forward 3 months and people are getting their the night before? What time do I realistically need to be there without worry of everything selling out? I figure I'll load up on a few growlers from Deviate and we'll make a night of it. Would 2am be too late to arrive?

As mentioned above, the IPAs and stouts don't always sell out the day of a release, and do sometimes last through the weekend. They usually have cans of one of their more regular beers, like Fountain of Juice or Fellowship of the Haze more recently.

I have nothing to add to this because I can't speak to the release times anymore as I stopped going to the circus months ago too, but, this is a disgusting quote.

Can someone whos been to the releases lately explain this night before thing? All I know is they do wristbands so you can show up, get your band, then leave, but, that starts on Thursday night now?

I've been wondering how this was all playing out now that the wristband thing has been in place for several releases. I come from a decent distance (2 hours each way) and cannot and will not do the overnight/early morning thing. My two experiences with releases came last December and February, so pre-wristband. Both times I arrived at 9AM or so and had no issues with any of the releases being sold out when my turn came. Now it seems that unless you get there hours earlier than that there is a likelihood that some cans will be sold out before the number is called? Is that accurate? Has anyone on here been to enough wristband releases to offer their experiences? I'd love to go again but not unless I am confident that I'll have a good chance at an allotment of everything being released.

was planning on stopping here on my way through and found out there is gonna be a release...few questions for those who have gone before:

-will the taproom open before 11?
-do you think most of the crowd will be gone by then?
-do the release taps sell out pretty quick?

    tia!

Oh, believe me man; I'm not thrilled at the prospect of getting there early. But I'm an hour away in Greenfield and don't want to lose 2 hours driving that late at night. Like I said, he's tip-toeing his way into beer and even though these lactose fruit bombs are the pop music of the beer world, it's a start. Plus, I'll be drinking Broad Ripple Brewpub ESB all night long so I'm in good company.

I believe the taproom opens at 11 but it'll be a shit show as people grab their beers. A lot of people go in and get pizza afterwards. That time of day is hell on earth in that place. As far as I know, their taps last through the weekend.

With that said, I'm more of a Zwanzigz guy. It's a good brewpub about 15 minutes down the road with better pizza, actual air-conditioning, and stellar barrel aged stouts and scotch ales. I believe they have their milkshake IPA's on tap but I can't speak to those. You may keep them in the back of your mind if 450 proves to be too much of a circus.

I'll add to what Mike said. If you don't want to experience the shit show, I'd show up either at 11:00 (before the release people go inside, although parking will be an issue) or after 12:45-1:00 (after they start clearing out). All the release beers will be on tap through the weekend at least, and usually well into the following week.

Oh and I drove by, just out of curiosity, tonight at around 8:30 pm. Plenty of people already sitting out in camp chairs. I didn't count, but it seemed like more than 15 or so already. Haha!

Zwanzigz is a bit of a hidden gem. Their pizza is really good (I won't say better than 450 because it's different). They do lots of styles well. As you mentioned, the barrel-aged stuff is on point. Their IPAs don't do much for me, and their milkshakes (at least early attempts) were grassy messes.

From reading this, the only thing that I can figure is that a group of Hoosiers must have gotten together and decided that they needed more ammo, since Indiana has virtually nothing. In that meeting they decided to collude, and make 450N hard to get.

    This is bonkers.

I went there on a weekday once, wanted to check the place out and I was surprised the lack of a draft list on their website or even posted semi-regularly on Instagram (where they post their can releases) perplexing. I understand cans, if they sell out quickly it doesn't make sense. Draft list should be a minimum for a brewery or beer bar these days.

I'm not trying to come off as a hater, but anything I have ever read by anyone that has ever drank anything from them has basically said that nothing is really worth visiting for or purchasing from the store. Sure, their IPAs or a sour here or there is fine, but nothing to drive business to their location. These fruit cans are the only thing people have been excited about in relation to 450N. I suspect that's why.

Not an excuse, but I think that is the rationale.

Yeah, I'm in the "Their beer is ok but I'm not driving an hour to get it or waiting in line for it" camp.

And this is coming from someone who's been to the last 4 corn mazes. (It's a fun event BTW, a little disorganized like a lot of festivals are but it's a unique showcase for a lot of Indiana brewers. VIP tickets are totally worth it for me, getting in an hour early means I can hit up most of places I want before the GA flood gates open up.)

Most breweries and beer bars have tap lists. Some updated them less regularly than others, but they don't have a list of their beers on tap. Just seems odd. The fact that they aren't worth driving out of the way for doesn't really impact why they would or wouldn't.
