I was skeptical of the strawberry variant but finally tried it today, it's really good. Strawberry flavor is pretty strong throughout. Not sure I'd want more than a pour of it but it's really nicely done and not something I expected to like.

This is baffling. Why is the limit one case per person? There's enough flippers, sellers, traders in Chicago to make this be over in 100 people. If Rev thinks people are willing to come out for a release event for these beers....why not make the limit 1 4 pack per person? So the most people can get their hands on this beer.

Ah, one case per person? Guess I can scratch this one off my list.

My two cents is they do a release day of the 600 and then magically have a silent release for more cans the next day. Or at least that seems to be my experience.

Do people wait in lines or typically buy the max for IPAs that aren't NE style or smoothie IPAS?

Not intentionally being a smart ass, it just seems unlikely. One of them is a west coast style. Other than pliny, I can't remember the last time a west coast style IPA came up in a conversation.

Maybe just because it is summer I am starting to under-appreciate the ridiculousness of Chicago beer markets.

If the temperature broaches 100 degrees again, those arriving with baby strollers will secure the entire allotment. :astonished:

Will be in Iowa that Saturday, hope to snag some the following week via the limited distribution noted in their post.

We'll have both featured beers on tap, along with guest taps from the Hop Butcher crew. Approximately 600 four-packs of each beer available at the Taproom on Kedzie Ave., with a limit of 1 case per person person of each beer. Very limited Chicagoland-only distribution will follow, beginning the week of 8/19.

You could definitely be right that the non-hazy will be easy to get a hold of, but I figured since HB has made their name mostly on the strength of their hazies, that'd be the one the majority of people would be most interested in.
In other words, you're right that the WC beer should be fine, but the hazy one was always going to be the hot one.

A chance to score a whole case of a HB hazy will bring out the undead zombie neckbeards for sure. I'd like to just make it to try them on tap, but with The Big North being that afternoon / evening, I'm not sure I can make it over there.

@Veliksta1 - any idea if the 2 new IPAs are expected to be on tap at the brewpub as well? I would normally assume so, but I didn't see any mention of it in the FB event page.

Funny. I read the post ON facebook, and I read "Imperial IPA," my brain somehow completely erased the word Hazy, because it for sure says "Imperial hazy IPA". Maybe my mind was just too busy looking for key words, like NE.

OK, yea, I understand much better now.

Hey, what's that on the horizon? *Cues up walking dead footage of the quarry full of hipsters, I mean undead*

Taproom Only on draft for these two due to a blitz of new beers and not enough draft lines for them all to be on at both locations. Sorry for the inconvenience.

So, um, will either of these HB collab beers have lactose in it? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I'd love to see a GI stout base with Rev's BA treatment, and then the reverse (Rev base, GI BA sensibilities).
