Yes and for the first time ever, the checkout girl checked my 3 bottles to make sure I wasn’t cheating the system.

I'm not there anymore, but they at least had Blackberry for sale today as well.

Man, bummed that I got there too late on Friday to buy bottles of it.

Yeah, I appreciate that they stagger bottle sales, but I'm sure it's frustrating to be there on day 1 and have this sort of situation happen on a Monday.

Half a pallet of blackberry when I left at 1pm. Two and a half pallets of Vintage 18 and half+ pallet of Vintage 2017. Bummed they didn't have kriek or SR on tap but I guess being able to get bottles with no line was a fine tradeoff.

Definitely. I wouldn't have them change anything, just wish I could have made it all work.

Was the difference just that the Great Taste crowd hit it Friday? I guess my surprise is they didn’t polish off the Saturday supply when leaving Sunday

Man, I got there ~12:30pm Friday, figured I'd pick up my bottles on the way out (my mistake as I learned), and by time we went to leave around 3pm or so, they weren't selling anymore. This news is a real kick in the nuts.

I wasn't a huge fan of the draft pour of Blackberry I had on Friday. Seemed a little on the astringent side. Got a little better as it warmed up, but still wasn't really what I was expecting based on precedent.

Happy I scored a couple of bottles though. I'll probably leave em in the cellar for a bit before cracking and hope that calms down a bit.

I picked up a couple of blackberries over the noon hour today. Was counting on them lingering a little while. I was able to grab summer sour bottles about 3 weeks after the release. They hold some back, my guess is it’s for those who can’t make the weekend releases. I like the way they do their releases though. Why other breweries don’t scan your license to enforce the limits is beyond me.
About 1/3 of a pallet of blackberry as of noon today and enough vintage 2018 to last for a year or so.

Come to find out that this is the same recipe as the O.G. and that it is a blend of old and new blackberry. The blend ratio is still currently a secret.

Half palate (2 rows) is Blackberry Sour at the brewery as of today. Of course 2 per person.

Lets nerd out about VSB batch 2 for a little bit!

What everyone thoughts about VSB batch 2 on draft vs from the bottle?

How do you all think it compares with how batch 1 VSB was fresh?

I tasted sweet tastes from the draft, and I dont ever remember sweet-tarts from batch 1 of VSB. I know its apples to oranges because of bottles vs draft and palates changing over time, and many other factors...

Just curious about people thoughts! Cheers!

Wish New Glarus had a little longer hours....5pm close down is kind of rough on the weekends. Is it a local ordinance or by design?

If anyone is going to MD day and has time and access to vsb hit me up.

I'm thinking they're partially closed by 5pm so as not to undercut the bars in town (which already get pretty slow by 9 or 10). Probably the same reason their regular beers are a little more expensive than the shops in town.

Also, it's such a nice place to drink, I'd imagine you'd have chaos in the town if people were wandering in at 8pm absolutely lit off of Staghorn

Yep. I imagine they close at 5 to encourage you to seek out the local restaurants. .
