Who gives a ratsazz what they call it. I'll try it, and if it sucks I won't get it again.

Back to the regularly scheduled program; any GI announcement on BCBS variants, with their typical picture of the official lineup? Based on previous years, should hit soon. I already put in for black Friday off.

I'm liking the sound of barrel game, hop game, and sour game. Gonna have to start throwing those into my everyday conversations.

Goose's barrel game's on fleek. Hop game's weak AF tho'.

Not to continue detailing this thread, but I figured I would give my two cents on the term “program.”

To me (although maybe not to others), this conveys something pretty specific and detailed. If you get X barels each year, and you put a beer in it - even if it is 3 types of barrels, or 4 types of beer - that is not a program (to me). This just means you BA beer. To me, a program is one where the brewery is constantly experimenting, playing around with recipes, ingredients for flavoring (e.g. “adjuncts” loike vanilla, coconut, etc.), different barrels, length of time, MOVING THE BARRELS to different locations to affect the pull and push of the beer with the barrel, rotating the barrels, using different types of barrels, performing “double barrel” brews, etc. ...Now THAT is a program. What more could you ask for that they are not doing? To me, THAT is a program.

Everyone that has a barrel program barrel ages beer, but not every brewery that barrel ages beer has a barrel program.

GI and Revolution certainly have a barrel program.

I like BA docket. How's your BA docket looking these days? Has a nice ring to it.

Seems like it was first of August last year when we got the official list of variants. Hopefully they will be announcing this year’s soon

BCBS is not what it was largely or almost entirely due to the explosion of alternative choices. But it’s still good shit, can we all agree on that? I just put two 16s and two 17s in the fridge from the closet. Also have an 18 vanilla and a few barley wines from 16 and 17. Looking forward to a nice Fall of sampling.

I think BCBS is sweet. Too sweet for my taste. That does not make it a bad beer. So for me there are better options. I also really enjoyed an aged Dog Father. I used to buy those for $4 a bottle till they disappeared. Most here would laugh at that beer.

To me the best beer is the one I like and can afford. Is that $100 bottle really $90 better? Blind taste it and see how it is.

While I love a barrel stout I am more than happy to walk past BBA expedition as I did last year. The regular is so good.

In today’s beer world every style is being brewed top notch by more than a few brewers. The difference between them is so slight it really falls on your individual taste.

    Enjoy

Well, regular BCBS is still an excellent BA stout.

The hype comes in when we are talking about the "reserve" and "rare" releases which are often times very similar to original BCBS but 2x or 4x the price.

Always wanted to try the coffee variant. Was getting closer to acquiring one each year. Last year, finally was able to land some variants, but, of course, they didn't make the coffee one. Looks like that ship may have sailed.
