San Diego Trip Help

I'm the wrong guy to ask about that. I personally think no because their "claim to fame" has been those IPA can releases, but I thought there were more misses than hits (like...maybe 3 hits for the entire time they've been doing it). I am also not a fan of the small tasting room, nor the clientele. However, their new location down on 5th was damn pretty (I got invited to their F&F soft-opening as arm candy to my better half).

 

Interesting. Sounds like a pass for me. Thanks for the insight. I'm considering Burgeon on the way down before Pizza Port Solano. Thoughts on Burgeon?

 

Burgeon is a better option than pure project imo. I really like their WC ipas. Beach Grease brewing is in that area too. Surf zombie is great

 

Looking at the brewery map further (carlsbad)....it shows pure project coming soon 2019? Is this right? I mean with just opening the east village location and brewery mishaps, I find it kinda curious.

 

Yes, they will have a Carlsbad location as well. I think I overheard late 2019/early 2020...but the brewery was noisy so take it with a grain of salt on the date.

 

It's right in Carlsbad Village, next to the Coaster station and connected to Handel's Ice Cream. I pass that way fairly often and haven't seen much, if any, progress.

Ditto on the Burgeon WC IPAs, also a fan of Clever Kiwi, their dry hopped kellerbier

 

Sorry to hijack, but has anyone heard anything about Eppig's Vista opening? Probably my most anticipated newcomer to North County and their IG notes that it will be "soon"

 

Headed to the hill to pick up Keene Idea on Saturday with stops at Alesmith on the way there and Societe on the way back.

Any recs for breakfast burritos in the Alesmith area or lunch spots near Societe?

Open 24/7....I don't even think they close on xmas nor new years. bacon/egg/cheese burrito is always delicious. If I am feeling extra hungry I will throw chorizo in it.

 

Newbie to the west coast here... Are there any bottle shops that consistently have Pliny? We're staying in North Park but have a car so any location will do.

Bottlecraft in north park generally has pliny the elder, blind pig, sts pils, happy hops. If in question they have a little cardboard sign at the register that states whether or not they have pliny

 

I'm looking for pretty much the same info. What are some good beer spots in addition to Resident and Half Door?

 

Burgeon is great. Love that tap room and quality west coast IPAs and pilsner

 

Bine and Vine on Adams ave about a mile from north park usually has pliny.

I'm going to be in San Diego Nov 8-10, which appears to be the tail end of SD Craft Beer Week. Anyone know of some significant or under the radar happenings I should be looking to check out?

 

My local watering hole Hamilton's Tavern does a 2nd saturday event every month. Usually a packed event but a good time. Free food and discounted taplist. Saturday the 9th they are featuring Marin, Sante Adairius, and cellarmaker taplist. Hamilton's always has one of the best taplist in san diego IMO. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I'll be out of town on vacation.

 

Also Sublime Ale house has some killer events, including a Firestone barrel night on 11/8. As well in san marcos, rip current brewing has a barrel night same day. If you haven't had them, they quietly kill it with their barrel program. Among others they will be tapping bourbon barrel no hope for rescue which is a phenomenal behemoth of a stout at 18.25%
