I'd like to think somewhere there is a neckbeard CIA agent who has 50 different IDs abusing the release system.

I have no idea whether multiple e-mail entries work or not (as far as giving you an advantage). This particular lottery had you enter first and last name, and date of birth as well. Maybe they match the birthday numbers to first and last name, and if there are multiples they eliminate you. Maybe they do it just by e-mail address. Unless someone has insight into how exactly they run their random lottery, it is all speculation.

Like covered many times, there is no best or worst way to do it. Consumers have different preferences. I'll never line up again, so on-line sales or lotteries are best for me.

I personally doubt More is filtering out people with the same names because what if it just happened to be 2 people with the same name? They probably delete duplicates on the same email and that's it.

Some people are juniors too. What if a Joe Smith names his son Joe Smith? Are they fucked?

They wouldn’t have the same bdays and email addresses though would they?

If he thought giving his son the same name that he has was cool, then he should be banned. :astonished:

I know they do some filtering, but not sure what level it is at. It's not difficult at all to do a filter of that stuff, though.

exactly. The only way I could see them doing something is if you entered multiple times and won multiple times. But at that point, you could just plead ignorance. "oh my friend must have been using my info to try and score a bottle for themselves".

They aren't tracking IP addresses on these entries, they have no idea where they came from. I 100% guarantee there are people entering several times with different emails.

Of course there are. People are also entering several times with the same e-mails. I've got a buddy who knows some internal folks there and apparently they found a guy that entered 56 times...no idea if that was with the same or different e-mail addresses.

I love all this speculation on Eventbrites de-duping logic. I would bet it's more sophisticated than you're giving it credit for, but less sophisticated than it could be.

I'd hope we never find out what the logic is because then savvy peeps could more easily stuff entries to avoid getting caught in the de-dupe

It would be real simple if they just required something like Goose Island, and require you enter your Driver's licence (or other Identification) #. Problem solved. Can't enter without that. Simple way to filter any duplicates.

It must be nice to twist things to meet your own agenda and just yell into the air. You are conveniently ignoring others' points about the fact you have to put your birthdate in. And your birthdate is on your license.

Now maybe MoRE isn't filtering those out, but maybe they are. I'm guessing they are.

Maybe they aren't checking birthdates on licenses at time of purchase, but maybe they are. I'm guessing they aren't doing that.

At a minimum doing so is a deterrent. I think the lottery just allows people who aren't sure to put their name in the hat (and if they want, 15 of their relatives) unlike a release or even an online upfront purchase. It's not one person with 15 email addresses that makes it tough to get this beer, it's that factor.

Since this is still getting dragged out, logically you'd de-dupe by unique emails and then concatenate name+birthdate and de-dupe there.

Still ways to game the system but would cut out a big majority of the knuckleheads trying to increase their chances. Even ID#/Driver's License isn't perfect if you're determined enough.

for the record, in releases of yesteryear, when you picked up your bottles, the only thing that more employees check is your name that written on the sheet of paper. they may check the birth date only to verify that you're 21, not to make sure that it matches your entry (which isn't reflected on the sheet of paper).

I still remember the first time they did tickets (Henna b3), I was able to get one. When I went to pick up my bottles, which was about 20 mins after they opened, Evan scanned my ticket and the system told him my allotment was picked up already.

He clearly recognized that I hadn't already been in for bottle pick-up in the last 20 minutes, and I got my bottles and pour anyway, but it has always made me wonder what the hell happened. They scanned the unique (maybe not...) QR code on my ticket, how could it have been marked picked up already?

Why would birthday matter? Me and this guy have the same birthday so what?

Also I’m not twisting anything that is how it works. Morning delight tickets were the same I know several people who had 2 or 3 tickets with their name on it the same, despite tg saying duplicates would be removed.

Also I don’t think more checks it like you said. When I went in for my mehndi bottle all they did was ask for my name but that was also not a lotto, so i guess we’ll see.

And yes like you said, this method allows people to just recruit as many as they want. At least with the bottle purchase online, people you recruit have to actually take time out of their day and deal with it.
