Smashing an Apfelsap. Wowzers. This beer is awesome. It's a sweet boooozy apple cider. The Bruery nailed it.

I had one a few weeks ago, and your description nails it!

I've been away for three weeks...did I miss anything?

But seriously, I love beer (all kinds). I'm a member of a few clubs here in the DC area. I was glad to join RS because I've always loved Bruery/Terreux beers. Paid 300, get money's worth in beers and possible access to more. I can understand some of the anger/disappointment but man I can't get too worked up over it because in the end it's just beer, the heavenly nectar of the gods that brings me joy. The moment it stops doing, mostly that, I'm out.

...and hell, I'm an east coast guy. I thought you Cali folk were suppose to be the chill ones, dude? (or el duderino if you are not into the whole brevity thing)

Really loved it as well. I know Sour Jesus, when he was here in DC area, was really happy with the way it came out, and he hinted something related on the way in 2020.

Metal is made out of oxygen bro

    /s

and just to pile on, when I worked at a bar I almost sent back a 6 month old Double Jack half barrel that we got when I wasn't working the receiving. The salesman said "just tap it, if it really doesn't taste fresh/good, I will swap it/ pick it up/ whatever... I'm telling you it'lll be fine"

"ok dude write up the paperwork, but we will taste it just because"

::tasted better than any Double Jack in bottles I'd ever had::

I really think inside that light proof hunk of metal, especially if it's stayed cold...my experience has been even hoppy beers can hang out for months-many months-years. I love aging Bigfoot, and if I was trying to get an 'aged' Bigfoot sixtel, I'd think you need 10yrs+ or possibly expedite by keeping room temp. And the metal of the keg has nothing to do with it, at all.

When they get it wrong, I believe it’s perfectly fine to call them out on it... but it’s only fair to call them out on it when they get it right too!

That being said, huge shoutout to @Holmeba for his response to an issue I noticed with growler vs crowler prices at the TRs! And extra kudos for following up with me, twice, about it!

    Cheers!

Nitro Vermont Sticky is delicious. They should have just offered that, screw the original.

Spontanaheim is so good. I cracked one yesterday, am doing a ~8oz pour per day (some kind of pseudo "how will it taste aged" 3 day program, I know people try this with new red wines, I figured I'd try with ~newlambic and a champagne stopper), day2 was better than day1, looking forward to finishing it tomorrow.

The amount of stone fruit (peach apricot plum) and (tart) citrus is seriously off the charts for an adjunct free Lambic-style spontaneous beer. It smells more acidic than it tastes, I always loved Rueuze and One Blend Terreux (which had a ton of savory funk right off the bat which was cool) but I think Spontanaheim is the one to age long term and put up against your Golden Blends and Lou Pepes. One Blend I want to see how it ages too, but with so much brett already, well I'm 2/3 through a bottle of Spont and I think the higher acidity level, and slower development of brett, will potentially make this the better candidate for long term aging.

Two REALLY awesome beers they'e introduced in the last 2 years, I'm very much looking forward to seeing what Rueuze Reserve is all about as well (assuming that's still making it to RS mixed). Where I'm at there's pretty limited access to Gueuze: Cuvee Rene / Beersel/ Tilquin are the only three I know we could definitely find tonight, we could poke around and find Boon or Hanssens, 3F or 'loons require trading/ hunting. I think it's fun aging beers like this (everyones a winner!) so I'll be stocking up on this as it's cheaper than Tilquin and appears to have as much or more aging potential. I already maxed both times and will again if there's another refresh. This is the kind of beer I really get excited about (and makes me value this club), there's plenty of BA / adjunct stout action locally, but true wild beers, not so many people trying much less nailing it.

Just got some interesting news via e-mail

Renewal season is upon us! Renewals will appear in your September allocations on Wedesday, 9/4. A full list of Society details will be added to our website in the coming days, but here's a highlight of what's in store for next year.
    • Hoarders can choose between The Bruery only, The Bruery Terreux only, or a mix of both for included bottles
    • Balanced release timing - minimum of two included beers/month
    • Society Member Monday access to taste new releases before sales
    • Exclusive 24 hour priority access to Small One-ders and Bruesicle releases in the tasting rooms
    • First access to all events and releases
    • 20% discount on all merch and beer purchases
More details will follow but we wanted to provide Society members with a first look at the 2020 Hoarders Society!

Very excited for this! My included sours tend to sit unloved in my cabinet (they're great beers but it's gotten increasingly harder with age for me to digest them), glad I can get more out of my included bottles next year.

Now if they could only break up the Small Batch Hoarders boxes into two smaller boxes: A Bruery box and a Terreux box....

Or even better, just release them as individual beers.

So they still won't be offering online orders ???

If it's still only tasting room access, that's only helpful to a handful of Hoarders.

    That's really disappointing.

Anybody know if train to beersel is available to the public in the tasting room like last year? Or is it members only this year

Yeah I called to be sure. No bottles, not on draft anymore, members only release. Bummer. Just cracked last year's and it was freaking amazing

If we don’t get the two extra cards like e Edie this year or at least extend the benefits to two people, I’ll be out. With living 100 miles away I don’t get up to the tasting but 8 times a year and it’s getting harder and harder to drink 180 bottles of beer.
